New Yukon Owner

After months fo looking we are about to take delivery of our first spa. We decided to go with Arctic Spa and after a very pleasent wet test at the dealership up in Vaughn we decided on the Yukon Ultra. We also chose the northern lights and Arctic Ozone options. Being an aircraft mechanic by trade I understand machines break so the access to components was a big plus for me personaly. We got a really good deal on this tub when all the options trown into the deal are counted.

So far we have had to contract and electrician to upgrade our home electrical system from 150A to 200A. Installed the wirring and GFI per code. Level and area for the tub.

We take delivery the week of the 7th of December and I am looking forward to keeping this forum updated on our experiences with this tub and the technical suport provided by Arctic Spa..

Congratulations on your new Spa! What a great Christmas present :) I too had to upgrade my electricl to 200 amp, do some interlocking and dig for a pad, add limestone screening etc... All the prep cost me over $2000. which was more than I had anticipated. I paid $11,000 for my Arctic Summit (signature series, all prices Can. $$)...so the whole thing has been more costly than I had intended. We've had ours a week, and so far so good...we are very pleased. Went back to the spa store on saturday with the first water sample for analysis, and spent another $300. (swing shelves and booster pillow)... It sure is a luxury to have a spa!!!

Congrats on your new tub. We cannot wait to get ours. We agree with your comment, the prep costs exceeded what we thought as well. Did you get the Onzen system with it?

We were just contacted by the spa set up team. Scheduled for delivery on December 9 at 7:30 in the morning. The electrician is all booked to hook it up on the 9th as well. Spa school is set for this Saturday.

Should be a really great Christmas surprise for our kids and their spouses coming home for Christmas.

We are thinking of putting a temporary shelter over the hot tub till spring when we can build a proper structure. Anyone have any suggestions?

We get a fair bit of snow in the winter so it has to be snow load rated. We are thinking of one of those temporary shed structures we can get from Canadian Tire.

Just brush the snow off before you get in - personally I'm looking forward to sitting in my new tub with snow all around, and looking up at the stars - but that's just my preference!

I totally agree!! We are in Mississauga and I had originally thought we'd need some kind of a structure. Now that we've been the proud owners of an Arctic Summit for 2 weeks, I can honestly say it would take a lot of the pleasure away if we were housed in. It's perfect just having it out in the open....nothing like a starry night to look straight up at!!! ^_^

I like watching the snowflakes come down. If you have NorthernLights, use the red light setting. It doesn't dielate the pupils and ruin the ambience.

Wow,

Thanks for your great input...generates good discussion at home as well. I payed way south of 13K. really good deal I guess.

Received confirmation of delivery for 7:30 tomorrow morning. Electrician confirmed he would be here by 8.

Of course, it appears we will have our first snowstorm of the year right in time for the delivery. Shovels ready, remembered to bring the hose inside to make sure it's not frozen for tomorrow.

Look forward to our first soak tomorrow night.

Hardest part of this installation...digging the trench for the cable. The first foot of gravel was easy but the next foot of clay was a killer.

Of course the day our hot tub arrives happens to be the first snowstorm of the year in the Toronto area. Amazingly the tub arrived only 45 minutes late but with the electrician also delayed 45 minutes it all came together. The drop off and install went without a hitch. Everything was done and the hot tub 3/4 full 90 minutes later. The set up people were great. Gave us all the documentation, brief on hot tub maintenance, ran through all the controls and shared some of their own personal experiences with their own hot tubs.

Over all the delivery and set up process was an A+.

Due to extremely high winds in our area we where unable to enjoy tub till two days later (last night). Wow....well worth it. :D

The tub works great, everything does what it's suppose to do so far. We cannot wait to surprise the kids with it when they visit at Christmas.

:D The tub is fantastic....especially just turning everything off, no noise and watching the stars in the night sky with my wife.

Merry Christmas to everyone!!!

The number of jets is over rated. After 15 months with our Arctic spa Tundra, we find the most enjoyment with lights and pumps turned off- simply enjoying the tranquility of a star lit nightsky.......

Merry Christmas everyone

Good luck I hope you have a better dealer and experience with this company than we did Make certain you get firm commitments and have regular conversations with them.

My experience started similar to you. but since I bought Arctic spa tundra 2 years ago. It's been serviced 5 times, 2 motors replaced and 17 jets have popped out. I have the same problem again this weekend with motors that need to be replaced. The electric is stable and maintenance impeccable to the book. This is a bad company that does not have a good product and horrible service. The dealers in my area have gone out of business (Chicago area) with the closest one about 200miles away. I am very disappointed and would advise others to stay away from arctic spa. If looking or a chance to get out of the contract stay with a reputable company such as Jacuzzi and don't buy into the BS about operating cost, filtration, and heat control. IN the end if you buy an arctic spa the little you may save with the shell design you pay back 10 times with repairs, parts and supplies. Two of us use the spa about 30 min 3 times a week and I drain and change filters at least 6 times / year. My advice stay away from Arctic spa, you pay a premium to buy it and a double premium to keep it running
