  1. Well, here in NH it wasn't actually a 'show' ... but I was able to catch sight of a couple meteors from the comfort of my tub! linda I was disapointed with the show. Around 12:30 I thought, what could make this better? Oh ya, watch from the hot tub! North Stratford has no ambient light, by the way Linda! Plus, last weekend Northern NH had no clouds! But the meteors were not really coming down as I have seen in the past. Tom
  2. Oh, I almost forgot. Lose the cap lock!
  3. August 2008 delivery, zero trouble! Arctic Tundra SLE.
  4. Think of five of your heaviest friends in the tub with you. Each brought a spouse that will be standing next to the spa. And don't forget they will have kids running around. Then add this weight to the tub and water calculation. If you are going for a builder, good! Not just a guy that you know that builds decks, but a licensed contractor. Also look at getting an engineer to sign off on the plan. This will transfer the liablility away from you.
  5. The girl that works there shares the same last name as me. Not related, quite a coincident.
  6. I can't wait to get home tonight and search! Thanks, dude. Oh, and your dealer is excellent, I agree. I'll be going there next month for some salt.
  7. Soon to be in spatopia.....welcome. By some folks posts, you would think it becomes-Spamagedon!
  8. I didn't want to say this, but since you went first, I have to concur. PVC free and made of stronger polypropylene, I went with CX, which has the antimicrobial coating. It is slippery, but not too slippery with snow and ice. I have to go back and look at the sq ft cost.
  9. This statement, plus electrical, equals dangerous! Not trying to offend anyone. It is to assure safety. Contract a licensed electrician.
  10. This is a great thread! I wonder where the Joker guy went? He should have some crow on the halfshell, hey?
  11. I had problems with my CYA in the tester. I did it twice and the water didn't get cloudy, so the test was mute.
  12. My Tundra was delivered August '08. I have not needed any support since. I am close to two hundred miles from my dealer and haven't needed him. I will have to replace my AquaTemor jack. Even though my dealer went out of business, I am still able to contact him and he will still make the trip, if I need him. Too bad for your experience. Mine is totally opposite. I bought Arctic for their quality and reliablility. I am not disapointed.
  13. The number of jets is over rated. After 15 months with our Arctic spa Tundra, we find the most enjoyment with lights and pumps turned off- simply enjoying the tranquility of a star lit nightsky....... Merry Christmas everyone I keep turning the heater down as the tub cools, just to keep the noise off. Love my Tundra!!! I am looking forward to tonight's soak in beautiful Northern New Hampshire!
  14. 51 out of the pipe is pretty standard temp. My 550 gallon tub heats in six-eight hours.
  15. Just brush the snow off before you get in - personally I'm looking forward to sitting in my new tub with snow all around, and looking up at the stars - but that's just my preference! I totally agree!! We are in Mississauga and I had originally thought we'd need some kind of a structure. Now that we've been the proud owners of an Arctic Summit for 2 weeks, I can honestly say it would take a lot of the pleasure away if we were housed in. It's perfect just having it out in the open....nothing like a starry night to look straight up at!!! I like watching the snowflakes come down. If you have NorthernLights, use the red light setting. It doesn't dielate the pupils and ruin the ambience.
  16. Please don't underestimate frost heave - this will move anything, including the weight of a tub! True that! First it creeps in from the side and then heads into the ground. I've heard about somebody walking over their sewer pipe and the compression caused the frost strata 48 inches into the ground and froze the pipe.
  17. Did you get the forever floor? It's very forgiving for the base you mention. Remember, top soil will heave like an old new england back road. Sounds like you won't have that issue!
  18. My dealer went out of business last winter. He gave me one jar of aroma therapy stuff when he delivered the tub. It was apple and I don't like it. He had other Arctic scents in the showroom, but I now need to buy this over the internet and can't find it. There was also the thick cotton swab that goes into the air intake that I would like to replace. You see, in the Arctic the scent is not put into the water but on a swab that the air passes through. What does everyone else use?
  19. 20 minutes to 1/2 hr. I prefer no jets most of the time. Unless I've been working hard around the farm. I don't even want the heater on, I like it quiet. Remember, if you're getting pruned skin, your Ph is probably wrong.
  20. For the next fill, use an charcoal activated inline filter for iron removal. Available through amazon for about 30 bucks total for a 10,000 gallon RV filter with hose fittings on both ends.
  21. I have the opposite, I have low user effect. Real high chlorine levels. Hydrogen peroxide reducer works well, though! CYA is always toward the low end, I will heed the advice.
  22. I have to drive around 30 minutes to the Arctic dealer, R&R Spas in Littleton, Mass. Good folks and seem to know their stuff! My tub is located in northern NH. I go there on the weekends so I wanted to get something reliable. I had a breaker trip after we lost power last week. Three days without power and the tub was at 92. I normally leave the tub at 100. Ambient was Low 26 high was 45. I have had my tub for over a year and am glad I chose Arctic. Two weeks ago I did a re-fill. This is my third fill and everytime I run into something different! This time, HIGH chlorine numbers. Last time, iron in water oxydizing(turned water rust color). First time, no issues. I'm getting pretty good at this. I really have to throw some gratitude to this forum! Tom gets on top of anything Arctic. Nitro/Chem-Geek/Roger/spa_tech and a couple others that I missed, sorry, are a wealth of information. Oh ya, Hillbilly, my homeboy! Some of these guys promote their own product but not often and never to obstruct the real value they add to helping everyone enjoy a well maintained tub, thanks guys/gals!!!
  23. I have a chlorine generator in my tub, Onzen. I think the Dichlor/bleach method is really cool, but I can't do this with the generator, right?
