Spa For 5'2" Female?

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I'm a new member to this forum and shopping for my first spa. I'm a 5'2" 140lb female w/ circulation problems/low blood pressure and into lots of outdoor sports (kayaking, skiing, mtn biking, running). Hydrotherapy is a driving force behind my spa search as well as my inability to stay warm in a home heated w/ a heat pump in Northern CA. I've wet tested the Marin, Certa & Majesta from Sundance Spas. I felt the Certa worked the best for me but still required a booster in the lounger to get my feet anywhere near the foot jets. Does anyone have recommendations of other spas to consider?

My local dealer quoted me $6749 for the 2008 Certa w/ ozone (sunzone cd), std steps, covermate I cover lifter, premium cover, start up kit (Sun Purity), drink tray & two robes. They want $200 more for the stainless jet trim. Is this a good price & is there any functional reason I should go w/ stainless jet trim? Any other tips for a first time buyer?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Heather

You may want to see if you have an artesian dealer in your area...the antigua model should be a good fit....and you should get more for your buck too.

I'd suggest you go to the websites of the major manufacturers and use their dealer locators to see where your nearest dealer is. These links will acutally put you at the dealer locator sections of their websites:

http://www.hotspring.com/Dealers/index.html

http://retailer.sundancespas.com/

http://www.calderaspas.com/Locator/index.html

http://artesianspas.com/main/dealer_locator.asp

http://www.marquisspas.com/

http://www.dimensiononespas.com/findadealer.asp

http://www.colemanspas.com/

http://www.goarctic.com

http://www.jacuzzihottubs.com/dealer-locator/

There are more certainly but those above make the majority of the spas sold in the US. Visit 3 or 4 or 5 of the closest and see what you like. It's always best to wet test to find the spa that fits and feels best to you (or your boss) but you at least want to listen to a few of them and compare rather than buying the first one you see. Good luck.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'd never heard of Artesian. According to what I can find on the net they are a european manufacturer. I'm located in Northern CA. They don't appear to have a dealer in my area.

Check out this website -> http://www.xxxx.com

There is lots of information about selecting a spa and what features make a good spa. They have Haven spas and they seem to be built well. Jim was helpful to me and he seems to be very well versed in thearputic aspects of the spas. The spas that are listed on his website seem to be set up well from a theraputic standpoint. Even if you don't choose one of his spas, I am sure the infomation will be useful.

I'm going to leave the insults out of it and just say to the poster to keep in mind the information on that particular site is nothing more than one mans opinion.

The spa would be mainly for me. I'm sure friends will sit in it at times but my partner isn't interested in a spa. In the past I rented a home that had a Dimension 1 spa. I really miss it. I used it 2-3 times a day. It had a lounger that I used most of the time either laying in it or sitting on the high spot to cool down.

May I ask what you want in a spa? Are you thinking about something that is just going to be really for you ? All of the bigger lines like HS, Marquis, Jacuzzi, Caldera, Coleman etc will make a smaller spa. You should be able to a find them from for 4000 - 7000 dollars depending on what you want.

I would say than you can stay with the smaller spas. HS has one as does Marquis, Jacuzzi, others as well. If you find that just being in the Hot water works for you than can save some dollars and stick with a Rendezvous from Marquis or the Solana from HS both are 2 person spas that have nice jets but not a lot of them. If you want more from your spa than the 325 from Jacuzzi is nice unit to look at.

Hey FREDRICKSBURG! Obviously, you are involved with Arctic in some form. This Forum is not here for your agenda. People come to this Forum for unbiased advice, and I have read all of your posts, and you sound like you are here to plug Arctic whether people ask about it or not. If you have valuable information on what makes YOUR spa SO MUCH better than the others, we value that information. Otherwise, please stop saying that basically Arctic is the ONLY spa for everyone. You sound like a fool.

You must have inadvertently responded to the wrong post. The poster never mentioned that spa or brand.

No more did the poster mention Artesian or Haven, Jacuzzi or Marquis, other brands suggested in the thread. So I don't understand the rolling eyes here...

Hi, Fredericksburg, and welcome to the forum! There are a couple of other Arctic dealers on the forum from time to time, and numerous customers.

You'll find many opportunities to answer questions and provide factual information about your product. Thanks in advance for your input and assistance.

Before you go too much further, though, I urge you (and all members) to check out the Board Guidelines. The link is at the top left corner, under the board banner. Ivieisme feels that some of your posts may violate these guidelines, possibly the part forbidding "blatant sales messages, solicitations, [and] advertisements."

By common agreement, however, we accept signatures that show brand affiliation so that readers can judge our posts for any potential brand bias.

Welcome to the forum, Heather.

IMO there is no functional advantage to stainless trim, and although I like them personally it is only for looks. In some spas, they look terrific, but only you can decide if the price is worth the "Oooh!" reaction.

No he didnt. The poster asked for any other suggestions on brands, and Fredricksburg said to look at the Arctic Fox. Don't see anything wrong with that. But, the Arctic Fox is the perfect spa for somone 5'2". I just had a lady in the showroom earlier today with her husband. They bought a fox and before they left they were sitting in it again dreaming about when they get it. She said that it fit her perfect and that it is her chair. Good luck in your search for the right spa.

That post was about more than just his mention of the Arctic Fox but was related to some other posts that had some negativity. If you look at it now you won't see that meaning. He was new though and sometimes people come off a bit strong when new but I'm not going to dredge anything up. Don't worry, I have no issue with Arctic or I wouldn't have listed them as a viable brand when I responded just prior.
