  1. Voodoo-Diver, Last weekend I wet tested a Hot Springs Grandee (they didn't have a filled Vista-what we really wanted) to compare to a Sundance Cameo. At the same price point, the HS was much more comfortable and seemed much better constructed. Back to your tub, they quoted us $ 9250 on the Envoy (cover, lifter, steps, delivery included) with no negotiation. This is in Rochester NY, so I don't know if delivery costs will play a role - but I would think with bargaining you could do a lot better than $ 9195. Maybe we'll check out the Jacuzzis to further muddy the waters. Greg. Hey Greg, I am curious when you say you thought the HS was better constructed in what way are you referring to. What about it made you feel this way.
  2. I'm so sick of hearing about Master Spas "lack of integrity" with their advertising. "Master Pool and Spa" is a dealer in Minnesota that has got a reputation for deceptive advertising. Unfortunatly, dealers across the country that use "MasterSpas" as their dealership name, or part thereof, have given the manufacturer a bad rep. Master Spas, Inc. in Ft Wayne, Indiana is the manufacturer. I challenge anyone to find anything about Master Spas, Inc. advertising in an immoral manner. Congrats to Master Spas, Inc. for again being SpaSearch Certified for 2008! If you think that this isn't a quality product, you are just being biased. For the second year in a row, SpaSearch has also given Master Spas, Inc. the top manufacturer in customer satisfaction. SpaSearch interviews real customers that bought spas, and Master Spas has more happy customers than all the rest of your so-called "quality spas." More happy customers than Hot Spring, Sundance, Jacuzzi, you name it! They say imitation is the truest form of flattery. Even the mighty Watkins Manufacturing has begun to copy Master Spas, or at least attempted to. On one hand, you have the Hot Spring Spa...wood frame, fully foamed, 100% filtration, etc. They are the BEST, right? Unless you like the new LimeLight Spa by Watkins...steel frame, LED lights, ABS plastic pan, not fully foamed, with suction intakes in the footwell! You have been selling AGAINST these features for years! "Those spas are junk," with the preverbial "in my opinion" attached to the end. "That spa will cost you $100 a month to operate!" Just like you sold against stereos...until Watkins started doing them! I am waiting for the day when I see a flatscreen popping out of the Grandee! Getting back to "immoral" advertising tactics, this one takes the cake. The Watkins' "Energy Guarantee" is the biggest load of BS in the industry! Anybody that is considering a purchase of a Watkins product should demand a power meter be thrown in on the deal. Watkins would lose their @$$ if their customers followed up on this empty promise. Sorry about the rant, but this advertising subject gets me fired up! If you don't know all the facts, you shouldn't pretend like you do. Masters reputation is earned based on thier actions and their history so live with it. To try and say that a positive spa search rating which its true merits are highly debatable to begin with somehow excuses Master from all of thier checked past is like saying Hitler really was not that bad a guy since he was good to his dog. Do we need to get into Textron and how well that is going? And if your so sick about Master and thier advertising than simply have them quit with the bogus shows that take place each week across the country.
  3. This is certainly not the politically correct thing to say and something I try and refrain from normally. But Master spas are simply over priced and lack the dedication to service, fit and finish, energy efficiency that most of what many consider to be high end spa makers offer. They only compete in one one area and that is price. Take off the cabinet of one of thier spas and see how fast you walk away from thinking of dropping anywhere close to 10k for one. I am not trying to stir up any controversy here but sometimes when you read about what people spent and what they got you just feel like if they only knew. Buy a Marquis, HS, Jacuzzi, Sundance, Arctic, D-1 even a Coleman ,Pacific spas seems to be getting great reviews but Master spas need to be priced for what they are really worth and that is at the low end of the spa market.
  4. You are correct with all but one thing, they come off the exact same line and actually are produced at the same time. Each line does have propriety jets among other things.
  5. Congratulations ....The cost of crane and hook up would be the same as a dealer would have been, so your cost is the same....what did the tub run you....Is it a 110 spa?
  6. Congratulations...a really comfortable and great tub for therapy....
  7. Build quality is outstanding. It is as you say a simple spa but in the end I think most people really are happy if the water stays Hot and clean and is economical in its energy consumption. The envy shines in these areas.
  8. Get the serial number it can be found where your equipment is and than call Jacuzzi (see thier web site for phone number) give them the serial number and they will tell you what you have...
  9. On your 400 series you can with no doubt go with the darker color, the combo you are looking at is so classy. What really makes it work in the Jacuzzi tub is you have the lighted water falls above the water line and the lighted cup holders again above the water line so you have lights working without getting lost inside the tub.
  10. I sell both - I think that they are very similar in quality and longevity, and very different in jetting. The Caldera has much more power - and you can shut off jets you are not using and add that 'oomph' to the remaining jets. You can make it hurt good. The HS has a wider variety of jets, including the Moto Massage. The HS has better filtration, but it is not that big a difference in day-to-day care or use. The warranty is about the same, with one minor difference - the Caldera has a ten-year structural warranty. Thas is the hidden, fiberglass part of the shell. Both tubs come with a seven-year surface warranty and five years equipment - and five-year no-fault heater warranty. Not all the Caldera tubs come with ozone, all HS do come with it. In my store, they are priced about the same. I am glad that I looked back in the forum, this was the question that I was hoping to get answered. I'll see if I can try both but I am looking for the little extra "oomph" I think (Caldera). Still going to try Jacuzzi, D1, Sundance if able too (no Marquis w/in 200 miles) Both are highly respected tubs. Myself personaly strongly prefer the HS, however I would not put much stock into the lower maintenance cost claim. Also if you are not going to wet test be careful of just using your hand. Again this is just my personal opinion but the Caldera jets made me itch, for me they are to small again just my opinion.
  11. No. Actually, it's like going to a NEW car lot. MSRP is set by the manufacturer on cars and tubs. Individual dealers, looking at their overhead and volume, decide how much off of MSRP they can afford to sell you the tub, yet still make enough profit to feed their families, pay bills, etc. You are exactly right....hey have you ever been to a Co....st.....co.....and seen them posting invoices.....NO.....but you can just check their stock prices and see high hugely profitable they are..... I would also add that most dealers just want to sell a spa for a reasonable profit but they really do want to earn your business. I think when you both have the same goal and that is to get you a new spa in your yard, most will be able to work out a fair deal.
  12. In response to Soakerman, reasons for not servicing such a spa can be numerous but I am only going to address a few. As a business why chance not getting paid for your services on a product you are not associated with nor have as a vested intrest. You say you might gain a customer. It is just as possible to alienate one because you are not respondsible for what the company will cover or not cover. If their product and services are of equal quality why does the customer have to be concerned about having to search out services for his spa? Heaven forbid that I would buy a spa that doesn't have a support or service network to back their product. I know just return it. That's certainly handy for the customer. Sure and we all know that once you go to the customers home that you become the face to vent at and to take the heat if they're not happy. And here's is a tidbit that many do not know many companies never actually pay for warranty work instead they give a credit to your account but if all your doing is repair it can be very difficult to ever get paid in real spendable cash. These are not scare tactics just the way things really are.
  13. what a person like Soaker fails to understand or simply chooses to ignore is a spa is more than just Hot water and jets and just because something looks good on a spec sheet that does not make it equal. Hot Springs, Jacuzzi, Marquis, Sundance and more, all have patented parts on thier spas, jetting being the most noticeable that makes them different from off the shelve jets that tubs like what you can buy at Costco have. I think it is reasonable to say times are slow right now for most dealers and letting people know that you have some product you want to move and will do so at a very good price is fine. Hope you find someone.
  14. that's fair, it just comes down to what matters most to you. I will say that there is something credible about water care and higher water turnover with the low speed larger pump just as there to the quietness of the circ pump both just have pluses and minuses.
  15. They both work. As with most things in life there are trade offs The quietness of the circ pump is great but even the hi flow circ pumps don't turn the water over and break the surface tension the way a large pump on low speed will. And if your bather load increases like a party or the like you can increase the filtering for the day to accommodate the heaver use. Bottom line is each will do the job and each offers advantages over the other but to dismiss either one and to claim one is the far and away better choice is foolish.
