I've got a mid-2000s HotSprings Vanguard hot tub. This winter it started tripping the high temp lockout every couple of days. As an initial troubleshooting step, I replaced the filter. It did not help. I was advised it was a bad heater, the heater was 7 years old so I ordered and installed a replacement. The problem continued, so I was advised it was the circulation pump and the circulation pump was 10 years old, so I ordered and installed the replacement. The problem continues. Its been too cold out to drain and refill to see if I have an airlock that can be solved by that. It did warm up enough one day to turn the water on and top off through the filter outlet tube, since repairs caused some water loss. Turning the water on almost immediately put the tub into a fault, though a google search says this could be a rapid temperature change issue with the sensors and not the actual issue. I have tried bleeding air out by disconnecting the pump multiple times, I haven't seen/heard any evidence of air coming out. I have also loosened the pump where you can open it up to look at the impeller to try to let air out that way, all I've been able to detect is water coming out of it. The tub does gurgle and splutter when the circulation motor is going. This happens with the new one, it happened with the last one...I actually don't remember a time it was ever silent, so maybe there is some level of gurgling that doesn't indicate an air lock... However, I discovered last week that the gurgling does go away if I turn the "waterfall" feature on, and then all you hear is the silent hum of the circ pump. Doesn't matter how long I run the waterfall, as soon as I close it off, the gurgling sound comes back. The main tubing has turned completely yellow so I can't see inside if there is any air trapped or debris. If there was debris, I never found anything inside my old pump which looked clean when I took it apart. I did have a hot tub blanket where many of the plastic bubbles started to peel off and I used to find them floating around... but I've not found evidence of them inside the plumbing as of yet. Last year I had to do a massive teardown to fix a $0.50 cent leak and then put hundreds of dollars of foam back in, and then had to replace the heater relay board shortly after. With this tub approaching 20 years old, I really didn't want to spend anymore money, and most certainly don't want to throw even more parts at it after doing both the heater and pump. Any ideas on what I could be missing?

Have a 2015 Hotsprings Vanguard Hot tub. Decided to drain and clean this morning. Turned the two breakers off (20w and 30w) then drained the tub, cleaned it and refilled. When I flipped the breakers back on I had no power to the tub whatsoever. Not a single sound, light, nothing. Did it over and the same result. Tested the incoming power wires and all had power at the circuit board so its not the breakers. I tested every wire I could find on the board that I thought had power and all showed they were getting power. Still not one LED light or anything anywhere, no sounds, ozonator dead. Control Panel on the deck dead. There is a small glass fuse on the lower right of the board, checked that and it was fine. Also replaced the battery on the board just in case. All was working fine until I flipped the breakers off to start the clean. Anyone have this happen? Any ideas? Am I missing something obvious here?

Hello, Looking for a little troubleshooting assistance for my 2010 HotSpring Jetsetter spa. This morning i noticed that my temperature had dropped from 100 to 90 degrees. Both the Ready and Power lights on the control panel are blinking in unison. I have tried resetting the spa numerous times by unplugging it and letting it sit for a few hours, same issue when i plug it in. I have removed the filters, run the pump to see if there was an airlock, but same thing. Filter are TriX and they are spotless so it is not a clogged filter. I have also run water through the grey standpipe to try and remove any air bubbles. My cir pump developed a crack last month and i replaced it at the time and all was working fine. The cir pump is running fine, the lights and the jets work, just no heat. Trying to determine if i need a new heater or another new part related to the heater. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thank you so much. jv

Last week I started up a 2006 spa that was given to me. I have everything working, went out to check the next morning and the lights were blinking, circulation pump was off. When I lifted the cover, the water had leaked down to the lowest jet! I found and repaired the leak, the tub is now holding water, now the heater is not working. The circulation pump is working and the jets are working on clean mode, but nothing else. any suggestions?

Hi, Curious, it worked well until I turned off stereo amp unit. Then it stopped and just the recirculating pump is on. No more display. I shutoff the breaker ad shut it back, it seems ton restart, display panel turn on and turnoff after a few seconds. Is there a link between the audio unit and the main control other than power supply?

Hotsprings instructs users to put all chemicals only into the filter compartment. We are using bromine granules, and coincidentally?? the only time my water remained clear is after I put the bromine in the main tub area rather than filer area. Is this a coincidence? Background I have a new hotsprings Pulse spa and the water was cloudy after several days. I discovered the installer put the ozonator check valve in backwards. After many attempts with dealer to fix the chemistry, we finally drained and refilled tub, Then followed all instructions and water became cloudy after a few days, I proceeded to put in bromine 2.5 tablespoons for 380 gal tub. After 16 hours no free bromine detected. Ph 7.2 and alkalinity 122 water still cloudy Next I put in 4 tablespoons (super shock) but this time directly into tub not thru filter area (I also changed filter) Note "older" filter is only 1 month old and has been rinsed every week. Left cover off for 6 hours. Now finally water is clear. What was the problem?? Filter, putting bromine into filter area, check valve? other??

Looking at a Marquis Vector21 (V84), definitely a higher tier than initially intended, but price is ON PAR with entry level Caldera and HotSprings (Vanto. Rhythm, shocker!). Can anyone with experience confirm if $11,500+ is a good buy for Marquis V84 in SW Ontario? No matter how we look at it, other models with few accessories add up to nearly $12,000 so may as well splurge, right? Thanks in advance!

I need to know if it is possible to reset the control panel. The temp got set to the max ut4 which is 107 and is too hot. The down button for temp doesn't work at all, but all other buttons work. Aside from replacing the control head which is difficult to find the old one that goes with the IQ2000, I want to know if I can reset to the 102 factory setting? Unplugging just remembers the last set temp but there but be some way to clear the memory. Thanks!

We have a very small space - at most 7 x 7'. I am interested in a 2-3 person tub for our moderate climate home. I will use it the most (and maintain it, my husband is not as interested) and am average size with back, knee and shoulder/neck problems. A corner unit would fit best but am concerned about proper jet positions and if they are deep enough. Lucky to have well-reviewed dealers locally - but haven't found a filled corner unit to test. Considering Hot Springs, Caldera and Marquis. Grateful for your advice.

I have a need for some lighting and therefore a separate 115v 15amp circuit and the nearest location is the Hotsprings spa sub panel. Now I know the Hotsprings spa requires a dedicated 50amp circuit. Still I was considering - if okay to tie in to the 20 or 30 amp breaker for some low voltage led lights. I realize this is not code but I believe the spa draws near the maximum required amps on both the 20 and 30 amp breaker. 1. Has anyone else done this tie in successfully? 2. Did you tie in to the 20 or 30 amp circuit (i'm considering adding a single 15amp receptacle) 3. I have No other option except and extension cord Thank you

Just wanted to share my experience with the community repairing motomassage jets on my Hot Springs Grandee 92-95 by Watkins, which came in "as is" condition with the house we bought. Besides of few other problems (that I fixed earlier), both motomassage jets had their "spine cords" broken, with some pieces pushed away and floating on the surface. All related tubes were in more or less good shape. A recommended jet replacement of "73307 Hot Spring Spas Moto Massage Jet Assembly" would cost me around $100 each. Spending $200 to replace these plastic pieces didn't seem to be fair, so I was looking for a cheaper option, and finally found "Moto Jet DX HG 14-C 77242" for $40 on ebay, which looked exactly as 73307, but without an air tube and o-ring. I decided to give it a try and ordered one - the risk was worse it, they turned out to be the same. I re-used my old air tube with o-ring, and my first jet started working immediately. Shortly I ordered another one and now I have both jets fully repaired for $80, rather than $200. P.S. I don't know the exact year when this Grandee was manufactured, because the serial of "G-05354" on it doesn't match the pattern they used. If someone has a knowledge - please, share. Vlad.

I am a newbie to this forum AND a first time hot tub owner. Recently bought a house that included a HotSpring Jetsetter. Prior owner signed a paper that said it was in fine working order - but it was not (but that is not the issue!). Actually it is in spectacularly good condition (the prior owners were fuss-buckets), and while I don't know the year exactly - it is pre-2005 because in 2006 Watkins changed the dimensions and ours is the smaller pre-2005 size. The problem is that it is leaking, badly (like 3 inches a day). I have traced the leak to the bottom drain since it will drain completely empty except for a minimal amount in the drain well in the bottom of the hot tub. I unscrewed the drain cover and looked in-don't see any obvious cracks. There is no leakage at all in the control panel/machinery compartment nor from the two external drain caps. Looking underneath (barely possible, BTW) it seems to be dripping from the bottom around where the spa floor drain is. It is a bit smelly (smells likes a sweaty horse!). I am definitely a "do it yourselfer type person" - but of course I know the tub would have to be jacked up and foam dug out to pinpoint the exact leak and fix. The QUESTION is - where can I find a plumbing diagram for a HotSpring Jetsetter so I know what is beneath the drain in regards to replacement parts? The guy at the HotSpring store said it was a manifold that sprouts a bunch of tubes like an octopus - and that if the prior owner did not properly winterize - those manifolds crack. I can find no reference to the part nor any diagrams that shows how the bottom drain is plumbed. Any advice? Yes, I already tried fix-a-leak - which slowed the leak DRAMATICALLY, but did not fully fix. I wish I could buy a new hot tub - but I have other more pressing repairs with the new (old) house, so I can't spend a fortune. HALP!!!! Thanks so much.

Hello, I bought a house 1 year ago, and it came with a HotSprings Grandee Spa, which worked great even after I refilled it back in April 2016. From the looks of it, it was manufacturd in 1999 or 2000. Anyway, I recently refilled the spa, and noticed that the heater wasn't working. TO be honest, I am not sure if the heater had been working before the refill, or if it stopped once I'd refilled it, because we hadn't used the spa in a couple of months. When I reset the heater, it clicks and clacks, I can see water moving through the inlet and outlet lines, but it kind of moves back and forth. Then, the high limit sensor trips, everything shuts off, and the power light flashes until I turn the breaker off for a minute or so, then turn it back on. Here is what I have done so far, for troubleshooting: 1. I tried resetting the spa and heater, with the filters removed. 2. I checked the water line coming from the heater for blockages or air...when I loosened the hose, water flowed freely from both the heater end, and the spa end. 3. I checked the voltage on the heater relay board, and it was perfectly fine. I noticed that when I hit the reset button on the heater, I hear the sound of water flowing, I see water move through the tubed going to and from the heater, there is clicking and clacking, the green "ready light" lights up, for a second, then the high limit sensor trips. What do you folks think? Is it the entire heater? THe high limit sensors? The thermostats? A blockage of buildup somewhere? I'm hoping to diagnose this without having to hire a tech. Putting this out on the forums is my last resort. -Chad

Hello, After moving our Hot Springs Sovereing (2003), the light does no longer function. I can see the icon on the display lighting up, but no light in the pool. I guess the first step is to replace the bulb. - What's the spare part for this? - Can this be done via the service panel, in a fairly simple manner? Thanks!

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Greetings all, I ordered my HS spa 3 weeks ago and was assured by the dealer that it would only take 3-4 weeks to receive my (paid in full) spa. I was just notified yesterday that I would have to wait another two-3 weeks until delivery. I've noticed other posts in this and other spa forums concerning this same issue with Hotsprings. What's going on and why?!? Does anyone have any Idea?!? Thanks Much CJ

I am chasing an issue with my 2003 Hot Springs Grandee. The hot tub is only heating to 90-94 and will occassionally reach 98. Symptoms: Heat will only increase with Jets on 94 degrees avg temp when thermostat set at 100 Took 3 days to come up to 90 degrees after refill all pumps and Ozone seem to be fine and running with no issue Running without fitlers installed- same result- low heat Bubbles are coming from bottom drain when main pumps off When I lower/raise thermostat I can hear and see heater LED come on and off I have turned off both mains 20 and 30 AMP to reset plus main on fuse box for 30 mins Remediation steps to date: cleaned all filters in proper way Replaced both thermistors first- no change Replaced heater - no change Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks in advance. Sole

I'm purchasing my first hot tub. I've researched for awhile and based on size desired, dealer availability and cost have narrowed down to the Marquis Spirit or the HotSprings Jetsetter. Both of these are 3/4 person tubs, which is all I need. - I've wet-tested the Spirit and like it. I've found posts here and elsewhere about the Jetsetter but haven't wet-tested yet. Though I haven't wet-tested both yet, comments lead me to believe the jets on the Spirit are more what I'm looking for - there are low-back jets and leg jets on the Spirit, which the Jetsetter doesn't have. - I've read that I should look for a tub with a circulation pump, which the Jetsetter does have; the Spirit has "one HP120 dual speed, 120GPM jet pump and "ConstantClean in-line sanitation system". (Is this the same thing?) - The Spirit has 1 filter; the Jetsetter has 3. Is more better, as far as filters go? - The Jetsetter has an optional ACE Salt Water Sanitizing System. Would this be worth the extra cost? - I've checked both dealers on BBB and neither appears red-flagged. Though I don't particularly care for the car dealer-type hounding, I've been discouraged by the lack of pursuit by either dealer. We've discussed price and availability at the Marquis dealer, but I have to contact them for any update or follow-up. The Hotsprings dealer has never requested contact information, though I've visited twice. Just seems a bit weird. If they don't care about the business, how is the customer service after the sale? - I checked at Tradecertified to see if the dealers were listed as "Certified" Spa Dealers and/or "Certified" Spa Service providers. Only the HotSprings dealer was listed as "Certified" as a dealer; neither was listed as certified spa service. Should I be concerned about this? Especially since there were no dealers listed as certified spa service? What am I missing? Can someone give me any tips on making the final decision? Any pros/cons to Marquis vs HotSprings as far as the manufacturers standing behind their products? Thanks!
