White mold? biofilm…or worse? Please help!

So a few months ago we started noticing white flakes in our hot tub. We assumed it was a bad filter so we would change the water and replace the filter. Generally that would make the problem go away for quite some time. However more recently it’s happening frequently and more 1BF247F3-4DD7-4430-8091-61E67BE3314C.thumb.jpeg.be0a1e05d854d5d81aa16da0c6e19d7f.jpegpronounced. We thought it was white mold and started to treat it as such, we’ve used biofilm cleaners, shocked it multiple times with chlorine and have dumped and replace the water at least three times now. Each time we blow water through the jet lines and these white flakes keep coming out. Will fill the water again treat it with bio film cleaner and shock again. But still the problem persists. Has anyone had something similar? And are there any good suggestions on pipe cleaners to really get the gunk out of the Jets once and for all? Thank you! Included some pictures for reference

So, is it slimy gunk or brittle flakes that break apart? Slimy gunk is biofilm or worse, brittle flakes are scale (calcium coming out of solution due to high ph/alk). It looks like scale to me. The uniformity of the rings suggests the inside of a flexible pvc pipe. Once this layer is cracked, by a repair, or move, or whatever, it will continue to peel off.

Take a piece of it and put it in a cup of vinegar. If it disappears or bubbles it is scale, and the only way to remove it is to lower the ph of the water for an extended period.

Thank you all for the input. It is slimy and a bit stretchy. I’ll try the vinegar trick just in case. I’m thinking may be a bad case of biofilm or white water mold that was hiding in the corrugated areas of the jet tubes. When we started seeing little traces of it in the tub, we started treating the water and now more is coming out. I’m hoping that means it’s dying and releasing from the tubes but I’m scared we may have to burn the whole unit with the eternal fires of damnation…or call a pro. :) I’ll give the Ah-some purge a try too. Winter is coming and we’re in AK. We take hot tubing seriously.
