Heyward
I have a 2010 Hot Springs Hot Spot SX 3 person tub 220 v. The tub runs great and heats fine but when in use and the jets are on the temperature gradually drops. This may be normal, I would like to know if something was set up incorrectly. Thanks in advance. RDspaguy
How many amps is the breaker? Post a pick of the circuit board and wiring diagram.
Heyward
50 amp. It's brand new. I will have to open it up.
castletonia
What kind of temp drop are we talking about? How long are you using the hot tub and what kind of outside air temps do you have? Are there any other symbols or icons on the display? I have a 2020 SX running 115V. It was 27 degrees out this morning and my tub dropped from 103 to 102 during my 30 minute soak. But, there have been days when it’s windier outside and I’ve lost 3 degrees in 30 minutes. I'm guessing you keep your air controls closed? Any spa set up for a 120v option has to be able to disable the heater when the jets are on. Otherwise it will pull too many amps and trip. When wired for 240v you must change some jumper pin or dipswitch to change that operation. I suspect they did not do that. With a pic I can instruct you how, or you can call your dealer and have them come do it. If it's new I suspect there would be no charge from a reputable dealer. Heyward
It drops from 104° to 100° in about an hour 40° outside
castletonia
RDspaguy, I keep my air controls open. Unless you are in a super windy environment it sounds like the hot tub isn’t heating. Is this a new issue? It could be that either the hot tub is in Econ mode and not heating or if when it was converted to 220V that the jumper setting wasn’t changed to allow the heater to run concurrently with the jet pump. The jumper settings are done through the control panel, it’s not a physical jumper.

I am surprised you don't lose more temp than that pulling in cold air and mixing it into the water at the jets. Amazed, even.🤔 Especially with it wired at 115v 20amp, as your heater can't be running with your jets running. 7 minutes ago, castletonia said: Is this a new issue? I misunderstood. New breaker, not new spa. 13 minutes ago, castletonia said: The jumper settings are done through the control panel, it’s not a physical jumper. Do you know how? What controls does the hotspot use? Heyward
Brand New Tub 50 amp 220 V. The tub can either be wired 110 or 220. I chose 220. thanks
Heyward
Here is a photo of the circuit board for my New Hot Springs SX 240v 50 amp Tub heater does not operate when jets are on high.
RDspaguy
Ok. Never seen one of those boards. @castletoniasaid it is programmed from the topside. Do you have the manual? I have no idea how to program that system. I was hoping he would come back with something, he is our go-to guy for watkins info.

Below Clipped from the 2020 manual.... Page 29 When these spars are connected to 230 volts 50 amps, the heater will provide approximately 4000 watts of heat when the pump is operating in LOW or HIGH speed and the thermostat is calling for heat. Heyward
To clarify the tub is a 2020 Hot Springs SX 230v 50 amp. The tub appears to heat when jets are on low speed but the heater does not heat when jets are on High Speed
castletonia
See attached. Guessing that when the hot tub was converted from 110V to 220V someone forgot to change the J3 jumper to + so the heater can run concurrently with the pump on high speed.
Heyward
I finally got around to changing the configuration of the J3 Jumper to +. Your instructions were spot on. Thanks again.
