Timmy
I have a new hot tub last year,4kw heater. Volt meter tests fine. 220. 3rd time in 12 months heater went bad. Any ideas why? Chlorine low now but is normally ok. Attached is chemical strip. Occasionally there's some orange residue on tub, usually after I shock it. I have great tasting well water and use softener. castletonia
Just by looking at the test strip, it looks like low pH. If that is the case, acidic water will destroy heaters quicker, but 3 in 12 months is excessive. Unless a proprietary heater, I would try something different.
RDspaguy
Ph is the #1 heater killer, but there could be other factors. What brand of spa do you have. What chemicals do you use? Can you post a pic of the equipment area

When it is installed it is VERY important to look down the heater tube to ensure the heater element is not touching the side of the tube...assuming you have a standard Balboa/ Gecko offset heater
