Matt132
Hi, Looking for advice on how to remove this check valve. I have unscrewed it at the top and thats now come away so all good. The bottom is glued in......so do I need to cut the pipe low down to remove then get a straight connector and a short cutting of pipe when re installing the new one? Thanks
CanadianSpaTech
Cut it and rebuild it from and including the black union back to the white rigid pipe.

I have no experience and don't want to replace the t at the top as its connected to some sort of valve. I have little to no experience in this but everything is glued. Can I buy just that grey collar with white knuckle and pipe separately? Cheers
RDspaguy
Maybe. Is there a brand name on it? Hardware stores sell similar looking fittings, spears I think, but I can't say if the threads will be the same.

RDspaguy
I meant the valve/ fitting. Does it have the equipment? Post a picture of the equipment area. Maybe us old guys will recognize it. That means you, @CanadianSpaTech.

It looks like that might thread on to the white reducer and could be reused. It has nubs around the collar so you might be able to screw it off. It could be a double female fitting so you can screw it from both ends 👉👈😵

All I need to do is find a check valve the same but all the ones I look at are 1.5" and my one is measuring near 2" or 60mm outside diameter? Any suggestions where I can get one? d.sebens
That’s a coupler fitting. It will fit 1.5 inch pipe inside of it. You need to measure the pipe you cut that’s the correct size. To clarify I don’t know much about spa stuff but if I see the picture correctly, pvc pipe is rated off the pipe size not a coupler size since that accepts the pipe Edited April 22, 2021 by d.sebens Clarify my response
CanadianSpaTech
Is it for the air blower or for a water line? They use different check valves

RDspaguy
Ok. Pvc is sized on INSIDE DIAMETER, not outside diameter. A 1.5" pvc is nearly 2" wide. This then goes inside of a fitting, which is wider still. I am not clear on how you are planning to reconnect to the gray union fitting. Did you cut the reducer coming out of the check valve? Thanks for info guys. I connected the grey Union back on. What i did was I took a multi tool and carefully cut the check valve collor off where the white insert went in. The white insert has been glued to the collar. I then sanded it al smooth. So getting there. I'm now needing to order a custom made cover but don't know should I start a new topic or ask it in here??? Any way...... for the cover do I measure to the edge of the acrylic or the edge of the wooden frame sticking out around the tub? Thanks for all comments. Appreciated
CanadianSpaTech
I would make sure it runs before ordering the cover. Measure from top of the acrylic down to the wood ledge and the will be the side skirt number. I normally order a 5" to 4" taper/thickness. For corner radius measurement...

It should run as it was running before but will wait until the new check valve is fitted and tested before I order. Thanks for help
