mcgouran
Does anyone know of any trick to getting the "top" back on the sand filter and creating a good sealed valve
BillinKingstonSprings
Clean the threads VERY CLEAN to remove any sand to avoid thread damage. When you start to screw the top back on make sure it is straight, do not cross thread it. I think you could apply just a little wd-40 to the threads to reduce the friction. Someone else might have an issue with the wd-40. Your goal is to screw the two pieces together without damaging the fiberglass threads. PoolGuyNJ
I agree with cleaning but not the WD. It's petroleum based and can act as a solvent. Get a new O-Ring. Scott
waterbear
ditto on no WD-40! Use a silicone or Teflon based pool lubricant like Magic Lube.
Pool Clown
+ 1 on the new o-ring. Never had to use anything. Just wash down the threads good to make sure you get all the sand out of them.
