ps558
Purchasing a 15x30 pool. I plan to heat it with a propane heater. Any recommendations ? I was thinking of a Sta-rite or Hayward ? Hayward make a decent heater just not the H100 for above ground pools. I prefer Raypack heaters http://www.raypak.com/poolframe.htm

Pool Clown
Sorry Gavin, Aquacal is a heat pump, and we don't offer them (to our customers), so i can't comment on them. Mom, Even though the pool is only 15 K i would still recommend the largest res. heater, 400K +/-. In terms of time it takes to heat up. That also goes for efficiency too. Raypak claims that it takes less gas to heat with their larger heaters by running less (time). Either one is a good unit. The Sta-Rite is very fuel pressure sensitive. That means that you may need to upgrade your gas meter. If you go Raypak, and you live in southern Calif. you will need to get the Lo Nox version. I have heard that the Texas requirement for Lo Nox is being reviewed. But that could be bad info on my part. I'm sure someone will be along eventually that can clear that part up.
