  1. It could. More likely your water level is a bit low and it's getting it at the filter. Are you getting good flow from the circ returns?
  2. Get some in a glass and add a couple tsp vinegar. If it disappears it is calcium.
  3. I used to work with a refurbisher who would let them dry thoroughly and paint them with rubber bumper paint or automotive undercoat. You might know it as flex-seal from the stupid screen boat commercial. Not sure how well it holds up long-term.
  4. I am not sure there is room for a coupler. Could fit a drain fitting (the short coupler) but that's as high pressure as a fitting gets in that tub, so it's risky. A repair adapter would work, but then we are reducing inside diameter at the pump, which could make a noticeable difference in jet pressure. Can you post a pic of the plumbing above that fitting?
  5. In my experience it either works or it doesn't. Maybe it's something in that canadian water. I also have never "revived" a laing by cleaning scale from the impeller in any meaningful manner. I have made them work for another few weeks by fiddling with them, that's about it. The idea that a millimeter of calcium carbonate can interfere with a magnet that strong does not make sense to me. I find that an imbalanced impeller will wobble and eventually lock because there is no physical connection keeping it straight. A few hairs or any debris can cause this.
  6. If you set it too low the circ pump will turn off. Is it in standard mode? Sometimes economy mode can cause issues.
  7. That is not likely to work, but runs a fair chance of glueing the union on, then to can buy a new pump too. If you are going to attempt a band-aid, it needs to be inside the thoroughly sanded pipe, not outside with pressure behind it. PVC cement is meant to be between two surfaces, not slathered on like icing on a cake. Epoxy putty would be the material to use. But you will be fixing it again in a year or two, so just fix it right the first time and be done.
  8. Intermittent circ pump is pretty rare. If you jump the flo switch and the circ pump does go out you could burn up your heater. Beat ne by a nose, canadaguy. Gold star buddy.
  9. Well, the top arrow would be a bad glue joint, but everything else could just be an o-ring. How sure are you that it is leaking from the glue joint? My internet is bad out where I live so your video didn't really play, it took a minute and a half to watch your 14 second clip.
  10. Thanks @castletonia, I knew you could clear that up. Gold star, buddy! So, is the pump not working? Can you hear it run but no water moves? Does it hum or buzz?
  11. For a pump that never turns off, 2 in 10 years is great. What usually does them in is the result of water chemistry or debris such as hair that slips past the filter. If you were replacing it more often I might suggest a different type, but those really wouldn't last much longer than you are getting from the Laing, and would require some plumbing work. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Get the E10. Keep doing what you are doing, it can't be that bad or you'd be buying more of them.
  12. Ozone is drawn in to the system using a venturi valve (Mazzei valve) after all equipment and on a bypass. I would not run ozone on the suction as it will accumulate in your filter and could damage equipment.
  13. Is this the jet you are talking about? https://pool-spa-supplies.com/watkins-hot-spring-dx-moto-massage-jet-assembly-cool-gray-73541-19086?utm_source=google_shopping And you have 4 of them? And none of them are working?
  14. Guru, engineer, technician... all good titles. I myself prefer to be called a spa ninja, but that's just me.
  15. I am confused. Your moto-massage is not working, so you removed and plan to replace the 4 jets above it? Why should air be coming from your jets, did you mean water? Or are you referring to the air injection that occurs inside the jet barrel which you removed? @castletonia, @CanadianSpaTech, wanna jump in here?
  16. So, your flow switch is closing but you still get the fl1? Are you certain it is plugged in the right place? Can you check that it is closing with an electrical tester by unplugging the wires and testing for continuity on the switch? Or try using a screwdriver to short out the flow switch pins on the board where it plugs in. If the fl1 goes away the problem is the switch, if not it is the board.
  17. Sorry. We get alot of requests for info on these inflatable spas, but unfortunately those of us who frequently respond to posts do not have any experience with these. You can help others looking for answers by posting whatever you may learn in the course of your repair efforts. Best of luck.
  18. Good to know. I am old, and therefore old-school, and that is the unreliable method I was taught. But when I started, chlorine (or bromine) and acid were about all you had to work with anyway.
  19. I would recommend you contact the manufacturer.
  20. Strange. Could you post a pic of your control, I am curious which brand it is? In case we run into this again.
  21. Start a new thread Jack! This one has been dead for 9 years... let it rest in peace. Include a bit of background info and year, post a pic of the controller, and circuit board if you can. Give us something to work with and we will be happy to help
  22. The dream team... in alphabetical order. 👍 My advice is always the same... a good dealer is more important than a good deal. Catchy, isn't it? So it's easy to remember... You are going to be dealing with your dealer for years. All spas have their problems, even the dream team, and you want someone experienced with a good reputation. Don't buy from the home show (unless it is a local dealers booth), or thermospas, or costco, unless you already have someone to work on it. Good service will matter much more to you in the long run than the name on the spa or a 20% difference in price. And don't buy without sitting in one first. Test every seat for fit, they are not always one-size-fits-all.
  23. Dlleno, is ahhsome safe to use in an inflatable spa, do you know? I had a pause after I posted that...
  24. I don't use that much in a month, and my 7 year old son treats it like his personal waterpark. Is there any grass left in your yard? Please tell me you left your cover open? Certain bacteria excrete a mucus layer that protects them from the chemicals. In your initial post you mentioned you use the spa frog, and also that they said your chlorine was very low. Since very low chlorine is the purpose of the spa frog, I am curious exactly what the reading was that prompted them to advise 14.5oz dichlor. Was that on a printout? Check the gallons listed, did they get a typo?
