  1. I shut mine down in the summer, and use it in the winter...
  2. I do have Ozone, but not the mixing chamber. As far as "features" such as lights and stereos, you will find that you really don't use them after the initial infatuation wears off... I highly recommend the "BBB" water treatment as discussed on this board, and get a good test kit, not the strips!
  3. I have one and like it. I think that it is a fine mid grade tub. As far as the filters go, you can use "normal" filters in them - they fit and work just fine.
  4. +1 for a 1/4 hp submersible pump, I also use one to drain mine, and it really does only take 30 minutes... If you have a "Harbor Freight" store in for area, check there for one.
  5. Welcome to the forum, and don't be discouraged... You will enjoy the tub, when you are done. Read the water chemistry section, and the easiest way is the "BBB" using household chemicals. Get yourself a good test kit, not strips! and enter your reading into the pool calculator at http://www.thepoolcalculator.com/ and do what it says to do...
  6. Why not turn the temp down to about 80, and use it - very relaxing...
  7. Yup... Love mine. I have been using it for the last year on my tub, and pool.
  8. Plug your numbers into the "pool Calculator" at http://www.thepoolcalculator.com/ and follow the suggestions. (I also have a Color Pro, and like it...)
  9. 450 gallons, and it just about an hour from the garden hose...
  10. The brightness is fine, you just pick a color and stay with it, the automatic changing of the colors drive me a bit batty. I really don't notice it on my electric bill that much, I also have a pool pump running, and I am all electric, as I'm in the desert outside of Las Vegas, NV.
  11. It has ozone, blower, waterfall, 4 port water feature, the led colored lights that you never use, 2 pumps, cover, and steps. 1 lounge, 2 corner seats w/ neck jets, and 2 other seats.
  12. I also have a Color-Q, and I like it. What are your readings?
  13. I have an LA Heet, and it's just fine for us, no problems, however I think that he is a bit high on the price, I paid about 8K out the door for mine a year ago...
  14. I usually throw in plastic vegetables (tomatoes, carrots, onions...) when someone new comes over. :-)
  15. You could also check out the Lamotte Color Pro, they have a digital readout, I like mine... http://lamotte.com/pool_spa_water/pool_spa_professional_products/colorq_photometer_kits.html
  16. It's most likely the thickness of the cover rather than the color... Yes, they do work (at least for me they do). The first cover we got was a thin blue one, and it lasted one and a half seasons, the second one is a much thicker clear one that is now on it's second season and seems to be holding up well. We live outside of Las Vegas, Nevada, and the pool is in direct sun all day, so during the hot summer, I use the cover at night to help with evaporation (which is noticeably less when using the cover), and at this time of year I use the cover to keep the heat up to about 82 - 84, without using the cover at this time of year the water temp at night would drop to about 74, and then take to long to heat up during the day. So in my case the non blue one worked better.
  17. I have a 14,000 gallon pool and live outside of Las Vegas, and the pool is in the direct sun all day, and I run my 1.5 hp pump 3 hours in the morning, and three hours in the afternoon. I use the Dichlor then Bleach method, and I never have a problem with it.

  19. They are talking about cleaning the filters in bleach, which I think almost everyone would agree is a no-no...
  20. I just received an email from Costco for their 4th of July weekend sale offering the Evolution (Strong) Key West for $3999.99 delivered...
  21. In a properly managed pool, why would you want to shock it every week? This is a legit question. I manage my own pool, and for the last two seasons I have used the BBB method, and according to the Pool Calculator it is always balanced, and maintaining it has been smooth sailing.
  22. I think that you meant Mike Holmes, John Holmes is something else entirely...
  23. I also like gadgets, and had trouble with the colors in a standard test kit, so I went with the ColorQ Pro7, I like it, it's easy to use, and gives you a digital readout. You can skip the tests that you don't want to run, or skip to the tests that you do want to run at that moment. I say go for it...
  24. There is also: http://www.poolproducts4less.com/unicel-re...es-5CH-203.aspx http://www.filtersfast.com/Filbur-FC-0303-...-Spa-Filter.asp http://filter.filtersfast.com/search?w=plas35 I can't vouch for them, but they should work...
