Sundance Hamilton - Price? Opinions?

Recommended Posts

This whole process started at Costco with me thinking $4-5K was alot of money, but would be a really nice spa. lol.....then I quickly learned after shopping a few spa showrooms and this website how off the mark I was. I'm REALLY scared now to even consider the costco spas just because of the hassle that can be involved if there's a problem, need service, etc.

I'm now considering the Sundance Hamilton new this year. I was quoted $7689 for the spa, ozonator, steps, free stainless, start-up chems, cover, cover lifter, and delivery. They are throwing in 2 sundance robes and towels because of an employee referral and I used to work for the company (before they sold spas) back in the day. ;) I'm told this is $1000 off the regular going rate and is a Memorial Day special. Somehow I feel like there's more to work with on that price, but I want to be fair, too. Can anyone help with this? I don't see stainless as really something I have to have and the steps are sooooooo cheap that we'll definitely have to use something else. Towels and robes.....eh, another take it or leave it.

If you have this spa, please tell me if you like it or not. THANKS!!! We wet tested yesterday. We had briefly considered the Certa, but the lounger was way too short. My husband is 6'1" and I'm 5'10". Our 7 yr old went with us and he was able to sit in 2 of the seats, so it seems to work well for all of us. I have to say I'm seriously drawn to those cool LEDs and light rings around the knobs.

Thanks,

Tracey

I am also considering this spa. I'd love to hear if you got it and how you like it so far. I was quoted price of $7899 for spa, steps, lifter & ozone. So you definitely have a better deal. I got this quote on 6/13. I'm in eastern PA.

I believe the Costco spa is better made for a lot less money.

Look closely at the construction pumps and parts. You will see the Costco is better made. Most of the spa companies, including Hot Spring are in trouble for cutting the quality of the products for the past five years and having them fall apart. If you are going to buy mediocre quality, then buy Costco.

So many of the people on this forum are sales people who disguise themselves as spa owers and shoppers. I have been on these forums for 9 years and it has not gotten any better.

If you want to waste you money listen to these liars. They know so little about anything except a sales pitch.

Well I believe the Sundance Spa's are better made with higher quality parts with a much better warranty and, they look better too.................

Yes, and you sell those cheaply made products that are an insult to American ingenuity.

It is stuff like that falling apart in people's back yard that is ruining the spa industry. Pretty pieces of junk, that anybody with brains can see.

God Bless you, and may you stop what you are doing.

Sometimes we get tired of making sure people realize that Jim's opinion, while valid, is just his opinion and all others are just as valid. I believe Sundance is about twice as well constructed. But they are not my favorite brand.

People should not be supporting low quality at those prices. If you are going to buy a hot tub, at least get some value.

The problem for shoppers is that all of the major companies have cut the quality drastically in the last few years. So they all look the same. On the outside they are real pretty so they sell. But the guts are junk. You can see what I mean by going to the spa specialist forum. I put photos of the insides of these overpriced peices of junk.

I would like to know what Jim bases his opinions on. I'd also like to know what HE considers to be a quality spa. I see a lot more negativity out of him than everybody else here combined.

To the OP, I just bought a Sundance Maxxus and am very happy with it thus far. I really don't see how you can go wrong with a company like Sundance, Jacuzzi, D1, Hotspring, or any other

of the tier 1 manufacturers. Keep in mind, that it's you who will be sitting in the spa every night not anybody on this forum so it's you who should be happy. Take the opinions of posters on here

with a grain of salt, and come to your own conclusions. Definitely some good info on here, but you have to be able to make your own decision. Wet test it, if you like it, go for it!

Even the creator of Sundance is not happy with what has happened. Mr. Clark has spoken about this in private and he doesn't like the cuts in quality.

My neighbor has a 1988 Sundance Cameo. That is a real Sundance. It is almost 20 years old, and if he had changed the seal kit sooner the old pump would still be running.

What is he not happy with? Please show us some statements or some sort of proof from creator to back up this statement.

hmmmmmm, the ground isn't cold... guess he11 ain't freezing over yet...... Hold on a sec, I gotta go look out the window... Nope, no pig flying either.

I just read a few of this Jim's guy post an it appears any top tier manufactures is bad. I do not know what his angle is but I have been working on spas for almost 20 years and the bigger companies i.e. Marquis, Hot Springs, Sundance, D1 and a couple others for the most part build a good spa. Yes they have had some issues through the years but all manufactures will but that does not make them a bad product.

Another comment he ash made that these companies are in it just for the money, well I thought that is why most companies exist is to make money.

Obviously Jim has made some money in his life so that would put him in the same category.

It's pretty easy to understand.

James Arjuna stretches the truth.

Excuse me, but whatever moderator edited my post please contact me. I did not say Jim "streatches the truth" I posted Jim Arjuna is a LIAR. It has been documented time and time again on this forum and is not an opinion, but a statement of fact. I have proof.

If you feel to post violates guidelines, then delete it, but do not change my words.

Thank you.

I think people should entirely ignore posts by Jim. He's clearly just a cranky person by nature. I've never visited a forum where one person made so many statements without a single fact to back them up.

The fact is right in your face. Go look at the spas! Anybody who spends that kind of money without looking around and acutally looking at the product is not a smart shopper.

Mr. Clark is not happy with what happened to his Sundance spas, but when he sold them to Junk Kuzzy, what did he expect?

Go to the spa specialist web site and see the pissed off Sundance owner, realizing he got screwed.

Jimbo: I don't know how else to put it, but you seem to know more about nothing than anyone else I have ever met.

So now, the founder of Sundance Spas has joined the founder of Hot Spring Spas, crying into their reserve wines

over "the horror" of what has happened to their companies after they sold out to those godless corporations?

Do I have that right?

I am a "dyed in the wool", bleeding-heart liberal, and usually loath to defend Corporate America, but given the choice of who to do business with, I chose the godless corporations. At least I can get a copy of their warranty agreement.

I am a "dyed in the wool" good person, who cares about people and that includes you. Are you going to email me and let me know when that spa you got starts to fall apart.

You also do not seem to be able to use a web site. The warranty information is linked on the front page and you don't seem to be competent at clicking.

I get letters from owners of that crap too often. They are reporting repeated warranty issues over and over. Shells cracking, leaking, and after the warranty is up, no help from the factory to cover their cost cutting manufacturing. Hot Spring and Sundance are the problem with the spa industry.

If you can't find the warranty on our site, you are not good at clicking. Click on the "Customer Corner" and read.

We also publish all the prices. Our cheapest line of spas are twice the quality of the most expensive from these other companies full of corporate glutt and wasted human resources.

Go to the "Haven Provence Spas" and look at the link at the top of the price page. It is a direct comparison to the Sundance Cameo, VS the one of the lowest end Haven models. The Provence Silvercreek Gold. It destroys the Sundance in a side by side comparison.

And just because you type it into a web site that makes it true....LOL Have you listed your ETL number yet for all to see. Or is that still a Phoenix ETL you show? And all that junk science on your site would even make a second grade science student laugh!! Your web site is put together so piss poor....

Folks I would like you to compare Jim's web site to the web site of any of the other manufacturers of quality tubs and make up your own mind. Keep in mind he buys his tubs from someone else and put's his name on them and upcharges about 300 percent, while the others manufacture there own tubs.

i'm pretty darn good at clicking, but Ihave a few problems:

I'm trying to get info on your tubs being ETL certified. But for the last year or longer your site says that area is "under Construction"

Jim, is a SCF with DIAT and turbo air ETL listed?

I am also looking for the Full Tong and Rogers report you quote and reference.

Can you explain Infinte R Again? You go into great detail on your site...but it sounds like made up B.S who doens't really know what they are talking about.

Also, I think you should make your Energy Reports more visable. That's an excellent peice of documentation and reporting. I think it reflects the quality and engineering side of you extreamley well.

Also, can you send me a Password for your chat room?

Thanks.

UPDATE FOR JIMBO:

Very satisfied Hot Spring owner for 11 years, 8 months and counting!

1st tub....93 Hot Spring Prodigy. Ran like a clock. The only repairs in 11 years: 2 thermostats and a tight diverter valve. Given to my brother.

2nd tub....FABULOUS 06 Hot Spring Envoy. All the bells and whistles including SPAudio II. One great tub! (I still am stunned with the improvements and advancements they have made in these tubs over the years!)

Both tubs tight as drums. Fit and Finish always A-1. If something happened to the Envoy, I would run right out and buy another one in a heartbeat. My local dealer (Shout Out: Hot Spring of Washington, DC) is always helpful and available. If you want quality, you pay for quality.

Lemmie know when you need another update, OK, Jimbo?
