  1. Will this thread ever die? This is a no win debate.
  2. Have you even seen Marquis lately or ever and yes they did get bought out as their websites states but it was by the employees not some lizard and they do not use Gecko controls.
  3. Here is my take on a Clear water Spa. You can pretty up a turd with colored lights and shiny jets but it is still turd. You can spray a turd with enough perfume that it might smell good for a while but the stink will soon comeback. Clear Water makes a pretty spa but they use low quality parts, poor workmanship, inferior shell reinforcement. Ask them if they use Viton on the seal, geloy in jets, Incoloy 825 heaters, fiberglass backed shells, 316 grade stainless steel on the jet escutheons... Well if you ask they may say sure we do, so make them prove it. I doubt most of them will even know what some of those things are. They the things we cannot see but we appreciate them down to road in added longevity to the parts in the spa, which equates to you spending less money on repair cost or at least putting it off a few more years.
  4. Put the GFCI on the disconnect box outside, that way if the spa needs service you do not need to be home. Also a 100" run between the GFCI and hot tub might cause nuisance tripping also.
  5. Many spa dealers do have a return policy. If they do not they should. I know of a dealer that sells about 800 spas a year and has a return policy of no questions asked. He told me in 15-years he has taken one spa back. On the dealer end if they are selling a good quality spa they can have a return policy and most likely no one will ever use it. If they are selling low grade spas (like Costo) and they had such a policy it would put them out of business. My local Costo has taken back 6 of the 11 they have sold this year. Not a good track record.
  6. Your closest Sundance dealer would be a good place to start.
  7. The few that I seen were mediocre construction at best. Their filters fall apart, they do not use Viton in the seals, low quality jets. I not saying they are a horrible spa, they just choose to put their money into the aesthetics and if that is what you want in a spa then they are a good choice.
  8. The reason is they are a low quality spa that is overpriced. Nevertheless, I hope you enjoy your spa and have years of trouble free service.
  9. You might be better off just getting one the Splash pools for the summer months, they can be put together and taking down very quickly. http://www.splashpools.com/Above_Ground_Pools.asp There other similar brands I just could not think of names.
  10. For the plastic wrapped around the cores I prefer to use a bicycle tire tube repair patch. Takes a a couple of minutes and it will last.
  11. I understand why you may think that way but that is not a good analogy. Forget about operation cost, the one thing I dislike about non-full foam spas is the weight on the plumbing. I have been servicing spas for a long time and I fix way more leaks with TP spas. Even the full foam ones are not hard to find or fix, that is a story made up by people who sell TP spas or have never fixed them. Most of my full foam leak fixes are less than three hours.
  12. También en el coste es la paga offs a la policía local y la policía federal y con la mayor probabilidad algunos otros.
  13. $6,000 can get you a good quality spa, but it will not have a colored lights, stereo, stainless steel escutcheons, fewer jets.
  14. Actually 4.3amps is a good average number to use per HP for a quality motor. But even that is only a guess as you cannot rate and electric motor in true HP.
  15. That is far from the truth, they get in bed with companies they can dictate to.
  16. dry= a 4 degrees rise on either sensor within 60-seconds for the 4-second heater firing. HFL= a 6 degree rise between to tow sensors during heating. Both come from little to no flow they just check for them at different times.
  17. Pathfinder Is this good or Bad??? John Looks bad to me. I would have thought by now most manufactures realize that 90's are very poor plumbing practice, reduces flow and increases noise.
  18. If the dealer is being good about getting out to look at it I would let them do their job. Until someone looks at the spa you do not even known if the spa is defective. There could be breaker and filter issues. If the issues are spa related I still would let them fix it and see how it goes, most likely you will not have any other issue real soon.
  19. You can replace the Artic name with any other manufacturer and find stories like this. A good manufacturer can have a dealer make them look bad and a good dealer make a bad manufacturer look good. It takes both manufactures and dealer doing good jobs to insure prosperity way down the road. Fortunately for me I only service so with abundance and crappy manufactures and dealers I will be busy for years to come.
  20. 1. As long as the wood is not directly on the ground no need to worry. How many 50-60 year old house have you seen that are wood based still standing? The old wood frame argument is silly. 2. Most things that break after the first year are not the manufactures fault anyways, most warranties read they cover manufactures defects only.
