Meza
My tub (Great Lakes Sundowner) has a floating weir but the tabs holding it down have broken off. So the weir and basket floats up out of the filter hole. Can anyone suggest how to repair this please or can you recommend what I could do? Thanks
CanadianSpaTech
Do you still have the clips? If you do you could try and use a 2 part epoxy and epoxy them back in. If not perhaps cut a small slot just above where the weir sits in the collar and use a wedge of some sort but there is always the danger of the wedge falling into the filter area and past the filters and into the pump. Drill a hole through the weir and also through the collar. Use a small stainless steel screw to hold it in place. It would likely get loose over time screwing and unscrewing each time you want to clean the filters but you could always drill another hole and start again all the way around the collar each time the hole wears out. Put a rock in the basket to keep it weighed down so it doesn't float and delete the weir all together @RDspaguywhat you got...lol
RDspaguy
I think you covered it, buddy.👍 Otherwise, you are replacing the filter canister, which you do NOT want to do. Just to clarify, the holes and screws should not go through the collar, just into it.
jdw1222
good info. Exact same thing has happened to mine and i have no idea where the pieces went. my filter stays in place and seem to function fine so haven't paid it a lot of attention but will try some of the fixes mentioned
Meza
Fantastic, thanks for the suggestions both. I think I'll try some screws as I don't have the broken tabs.
