Mikey2274
I am needing to get the plumbing layout for an older Hot Spring Sovereign. (Serial number I471862) I have a pretty bad leak in one of the corners. Starting clockwise at the control panel for the heat and lights, it would be around the 2nd corner. This is not the corner with the moto-message. Also, when it is running, I can hardly get the jets in that same corner to work. They do work, but hardly at all compared to the rest of the jets. I suspect a plumbing leak with the manifold. I just want to make sure that I start pulling apart panels and foam in the right area to minimize wasted time and a larger mess! Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
RDspaguy
I don't know that a plumbing diagram exists. Get a handful of 3/8" dowel rods, insert them into the foam as far as you can at various locations around your suspected leak area, leave them in for a few minutes, then pull them out. The wet spots will be apparent on the dowel rods. Use them to home in on the source of the leak. If you hit a pipe, pull it back and angle it a bit to go around the pipe. Dry them with a hair dryer to use again. Eventually you will find where to dig.
Mikey2274
I am fairly confident as to wear the leak is located. It is at one of the corner areas. I am just unsure of which side of the corner to pull apart. I am trying to limit the number of damaged panels that have to be pulled off. The wood is very brittle and breaks easily. I saw a post from a member on here who said that they had some sort of documentation for the plumbing.
Mikey2274
I really just need to know where the manifold is located relative to the control panel. I have a feeling that is where it is leaking.
Mikey2274
Update: I called Hot Spring and they emailed me the layout for the air and water lines. I have attached them here for everyone to use.
RDspaguy
The last thing they do when building a spa is flip it over and cover the bottom in plastic. Where the water comes out is not necessarily where the leak is. But it could be. Thanks for posting your findings.👍
Mikey2274
I now have the tub lifted and on 2x4's for support. I am going to fill it slowly so that only the lowest level jet is covered. I will then wait for any leaks out of the bottom. I will repeat this process until the leak finally emerges. This will hopefully help to point me in the correct direction to start digging. RDspaguy
Be sure you support the footwell as that is where most of the weight falls. If you just support the edges you could do alot of damage.
Mikey2274
👍Will do! Thanks for the heads up!
Nicolangu
Did you fix that issue mate?! I am dealing with the same issue right now, however I tried a lot of things, including some of the things listed above, however nothing helped! It took me a while until I have found that freaking plumbing diagram, but it proved to be useless, as my installation is bit different, and I cannot find where is that freaking leak. My brother actually recommended me to call for the services of sosplomberie.be as they are having some of the best specialists in plumbing. I think that is exactly what I am going to do. Mikey2274
I sure did! Turns out that I had a manufacturing defect on one of the factory hoses. When it was made, an air bubble formed on one of the hoses. Over time, it got brittle and popped off which created about a 1/8" hole. I wouldn't have believed it unless I found the hole, and the bubble part that popped off! I spliced in a .99 cent pvc union, and I was back in business!
John HB
Kind of related, I guess. Does anyone have a diagram/ explanation of which jet does what on a sovereign (I guess most of the range is generic)?
Mikey2274
See if you can find the original owners manual to download. I have one and I do believe it explains the jets and nozzels.
RDspaguy
Most plumbers won't touch a spa. You need a spa repair tech.
Trowdiant
Recommend contacting plumbers in your city who probably have a sewer scheme for your home. Usually, houses in the same city are similar; professional plumbers seem to have more experience in solving similar problems. When I had an unexplained leak, and I couldn't fix it myself, I turned to https://rooterworx.ca, which solved the problem quickly and efficiently. Now I understand that it's better to entrust such things to professionals, and it's much more convenient than trying to fix the sewer yourself. What's a sewer scheme got to do with a hot tub? Did you even read the 9 month old thread? The OP found the problem and repaired it. More importantly, he reported back here to that affect.
