dhunton
I'm having a hard time searching this forum for information. We just got our inflatable hot tub yesterday, and have not yet put any chemicals in it (filled, heated, went in once). We want to make sure the chemicals we use will be safe for us and our hot tub. The manufacturer doesn't give any specific recommendations on chemicals to use, just pH, alkalinity, etc levels to maintain. We were wanting to know if anyone has thoughts on whether the recommendations in this forum: http://www.poolspaforum.com/forum/?showtopic=30249
Roger
I would avoid as many chemicals as possible. But you need to sanitize your water or you will get infected with bacteria. Chlorine or Bromine are the only listed sanitizers. Choose one. Baking soda raises alkalinity and PH and acid lowers it. Get yourself a test kit or test strips. Don't use the tub any more until you have a sanitizer.
dhunton
We have the chemicals, we just wanted to make sure we weren't doing damage to the hot tub by using them. We also have test strips. Looks like we'll go with Bromine... so... 1)Bromine 2)Baking Soda - to adjust alkalinity/pH 3)Dry Acid - to adjust alkalinity/pH. Is it ok to use a non-chlorine type of "shock" if it gets cloudy?
Roger
You can use MPS to shock if it gets cloudy. But if you use it a lot I would shock it after every 5-6 soaks instead of waiting for it to get cloudy.
Marting
I just use the regular pool cleaning chemicals for my inflatable hot tub and have never had any issues... https://nigeldunnett.info/best-inflatable-hot-tub-spa-reviews-uk/ has a little cleaning information on some of the more popular spa models I believe.
