4DEE9ERS
Question, I have an extra spa hot water heater. Its a: Pentair MiniMax 100 100,000 BTU 120/220 V Gas What types of complications if any, would occur if i was to install for hot water supply for 40 x 60 workshop on my property? Any and all feed back would be appreciated. Thanks
Roger
Are you going to install it outside or supply proper venting for both ignition air and waste air? Seems to me it would work pretty good but it is not as hot as an actual hot water heater. And they can be a little noisy during operation. You will have to have a separate pump that creates the demand and fires the heater. Or some kind of flow switch.

Outside, I just finished pouring an 8x4 slab, and ran 16 feet of electric into junction box, capped off. Initially, i pour slab for heater, and waste bin or out door shelving, overlooked the pump situation. I do have 2 pumps that was used with it, but i think that would be over kill on water pressure. Maybe a small pump, i believe it was 45 - 107 F on the settings, which is fine with me. I have to run out to the storage shed, and check on those pumps. The noise will only bother its self, its more of a guest house/work shop/man cave/gaming room game days are loud, and workshop equipment throughout the week

n1oty
You do understand that these heaters are NOT certified for connection to a domestic potable water supply. Right??? John
Roger
Yea as long as your not cooking or drinking it in your workshop. Great for the power washer and washing hands though. A pump and pressure switch you will need. Don't get a pressure tank just hold the pressure in the lines. It will likely cycle a lot without a tank, maybe a very small one. Either way it will be a waste unless you insulate it I guess, but I think it is still a waste for your use in a shop. May need a loop to bypass water back to the pump. Check what the minimum GPM flow is to the heater and see if you can get whatever pump you use down to that GPM. If your using a domestic water source instead of a pump you may want to just get a flow switch in the line before the heater to fire it when you have a water demand. Not sure how long it would take to get good hot water at the spigot but I would think it would work. Never done it. Usually there's a pump and a filter and a 2" line to and from a pool or spa or both.
4DEE9ERS
yes i do, ended up canceling that project. Water heater took a dive, so now i purchased 2 tankless gas, 1 for my home that took a dive, and the other for the guest house, which i replaced a heating element close to 2 yrs ago. Old & outdated, also got a 30 gallon for the work shop. I upgraded 3/4 gas to 1, to supply tankless, and heater.Existing 3/4 re-routed to supply new stove. Guest house, 3/4 as well only tankless on that. Still have work shop 30 to install. Both outside, venting not an issue, unsure of specs for 30 outside enclosed in private enclosure for it?
