Can any one tell me if you can buy TAYLOR test kits in the UK. They seeem to be the bees knees in testing water. Found a Taylor model k2005 on e bay from USA but don't know if this is correct model. (says it tests for chlorine , bromine, TA PH Hardness etc. ) don't want to spend $95 inc postage if wrong model, but would definately like to buy Taylor as strips and tabs seem to be very hit and miss. If not can any UK posters suggest any alternatives.

Taylor k-2005 is NOT the kit you want. You need K-2106 (for Bromine) or K-2006 (for Chlorine)

The K-2005 is a DPD kit that requires colour matching. The K-2006 (K-2106) are FAS-DPD in which you simply count "drops" (much easier and extremely accurate)

The Lamotte 7022 is the only real choice in my opinion, it costs about £80 + £10 p&p

I use it for both a chlorine swimming pool and a bromine spa ( multiply reading by 2.25 for total bromine )

Individul chenmicals can be bought separately , I bought extra pH indicator FAS-DPD titratant and dpd powder.

buying larger bottles of these is cheaper

You can get it from Sword Scientific Ltd in the UK

It seems that even though Taylor has an international distributor (HornerXpress Worldwide in Fort Lauderdale, Florida (954-938-5355) orhxworldwide@teamhorner.com.)the LaMotte kit seems to be more readily available. It is a serviceable FAS-DPD test kit.

As far as I can remember the postage to get theTaylor kit from Spain ! to the UK was more than you pay for the kit in the US + the fact that the kit was several times the price you pay. Not to mention that this is a kit you need to be able to get replacements for. and when the distributor doesn't respond to your emails , it doesn't seem to be a serious contender in the UK.

Sorry if this sounds like a rant..
