I just filled mine with water from my softner, and increased the hardness with calcium to the correct level. Or try a pre filter that attaches to your hose, or use both. Unfortunately my tub is at my deer hunting cabin and it is remote and without a softner. I will investigate the hose filter, that iron makes a real mess of the filter and the tub. It is a Watts, but the same thing. I haven't tried it yet and won't be changing my water for another couple weeks. Mine is sold as an RV filter. Activated charcoal should do the trick. What a pain iron can be. Hey, everything is balanced and my water is yellow! Then you use stuff like Iron Out and it clears up until you put your diclor treatment. My one micron filter caked up with iron and needed to be cleaned. Like you, my place is only used on the weekend and I don't have the ablility to constanly monitor my spa. Good luck, anyway. pmj Posted September 17, 2009 Report Share Posted September 17, 2009 Not that i am an expert by any stretch but we use Metal X and that takes care of the problem.We also use the filter on the hose but still need metal X.
