  1. Can you post up the wiring diagram of both the old and the new boards? A picture of the new board would also be extremely helpful. Do you have a picture of the old board installed? This way we can see how the old board was wired.
  2. The Cover Guy. You tell them your dimensions and you can pick your quality, energy efficiency and materials. One your dimensions runs around $500 more or less depending on options chosen and how fast you want it.
  3. Please start your own thread. In it fully describe your problem and the age and model of your spa. Also include pictures of your spa electronics, the wiring diagram usually found on the inside cover of the spa pack and of your equipment area. We ask this to avoid giving information based on the wrong equipment because someone resurrected an old thread and it's either a different tub, not quite the same issue or different electronics. Everyone here is a volunteer and a new thread makes it that much easier for us to help you instead of looking through a multiple page old thread to find out your issue isn't exactly the same and the advice may not be appropriate. If I was to make a SWAG, I would say replace your temperature sensors. You may have only 1 sensor. However it could also be a flow switch or it could be a stuck heater relay. This is why we need to see YOUR tub and setup.
  4. Did the tech remove the shipping bolts from the pumps? There are usually bolts which hold the pump solidly on the mounts for shipping and those get loosened up for use to allow the rubber mounts to take the vibrations of the pump running. Pumps do vibrate when running. If there was air in the lines, you will hear something more like grinding/rattling/gurgling and not a humming sound. I suspect it's the pumps you are hearing and not the heater. The heater is passive as far as water movement is, it has no moving parts. The little bubbles are from the ozone generator, you are correct. The ozone generator should make no noise. What is your tub on? Concrete? Gravel? Wood? Different base material will deaden or amplify pump sounds.
  5. Unfortunately, most owners manuals don't have any info on error codes. As far as how to wire it, any Spa manual will have the basic wiring for the breaker panel to the hot tub. Watkins tubs are different but again, you can easily find that on line. The wiring of the tub itself should be on the inside cover of the spa pack. Most manuals are simply a general guide on how to use the controls and how to maintain the water.
  6. Randy, This is a 5 year old thread and HotSpring Official hasn't been on the board for years. It's not going to happen for several reasons, the biggest reason is Watkins Manufacturing sells to dealers only and only provides service info to their dealers. That has been there way since day one. You can only buy a tub or parts from their dealer network. Authorized service is provided by their deal techs. They are not going to post anything on how to replace parts on youtube. This is part of the research a consumer should have done when buying a Spa. This is why the experts here stress know your dealers reputation. Things do break on a hot tub. It's a severe environment for electronics and plastics. You have corrosive gases generated by the sanitizer which degrade the plastics and rubber and you have a moist environment which can corrode the metals. You also have the choice of hiring an independent service tech. Most independent tech have dealer connections for parts. A hot tub is like a boat. It's a hole in your back yard you pour money into.
  7. What's your budget? Can you exceed it if the right deal came your way? What dealers do you have in your area? Check their reputations for both sales and service as the dealer is your warranty partner. If you have a dealer who deals with Wellis, look at them. You can get a new Citylife Oslo or Milano for under $10K. They are a European made tub that is getting rave reviews in the NA market. They have not been here very long but seem to make a quality tub. You should also be able to find one of the lower end Artesian Spas for under $10K.
  8. It's a good tub. When buying used, make sure you see it running and heating. Test all functions. Open the panel and look for leaks. Walk away is something is non functional or you find evidence of a leak. Remember, this is a 20 year old tub. Sometimes it's better to spend the extra and buy new especially if you are not handy.
  9. 18 ohms should be good to go. Look in the heater tube and make sure the element isn't touching the side wall. Do you have continuity from the relay contact point to the heater terminal? If so, the burn mark is OK, if not you can either repair it or buy a new relay board. The relay is probably bad so again you either need to repair the board by replacing the relay or buy a new relay board. Most likely the heater relay stuck on and caused the damage. It's not an uncommon failure.
  10. I'm not 100% sure but I believe you need an impeller for a Balboa 3HP pump. Contact Spa Depot, Spa Parts, Hot Tub Outpost or someone like those online dealers. You also might want to try PDCSpaParts. They have a rebuild kit for Balboa 3HP pumps. One of them should be able to help you out.
  11. Sounds like the circ pump went. It's not an uncommon failure. Post up your wiring diagram which should be on the inside cover of the box and pictures of your circuit board. Also snap a picture of the circ pump.
  12. It should help. Right now, any vibration and noise are being transmitted thru the bolt to the frame or the tub. Removing the bolt will allow the rubber isolators to isolate the pump from the frame.
  13. What doesn't look right? The fact that there is trace missing from those 2? From my experiences in the electronics field, that is fine. It was designed that way because if it was an issue, it would be burned. The missing traces are very clean. Now, what exactly is the problem with your hot tub? Please post up a picture of the front side of the board and of the wiring diagram. Have you checked all the fuses?
  14. Post up the wiring diagram which is usually on the back side of the cover. I suspect a relay has failed but without the diagram, I can't tell which one you should be checking.
  15. Man, this is an 11 year old thread. I'll bet you won't get an answer. If, for some reason the poster is still here, you need to tag them. That is using the @ sign with the user name. For example, if you wanted to tag me, it would be @cranbiz Start a new thread and ask your questions there. You will have a better chance of getting answers there.
  16. I looks like Balboa VL400 topside. You might have to get one that is not the exact labeling but it will fit.
  17. From what I found, Spas and hot tubs were required by NEC in 1981. However AZ has not adopted the NEC codes and does their own thing. Pools were before spas and hot tubs. 1980 was when pools required them. I couldn't find out when AZ actually required GFCI for spas but I'll bet it's after 1988. I have seen other states that required them for spas in 1990.
  18. Are you subject to freezing temperatures? If not, your best bet is to drain the tub. Other than that, you could monitor the levels like normal and run the tub occasionally. I'll let the other experts chime in but I'm not sure that circulating it once a week is enough.
  19. If your usage will be that frequent, the tech was correct. It won't be worth it. If you run at 102 deg, the heater will come on when it see's a drop of 1-2 degrees. It will run for some time, could be 5 minutes or so and shut off. With a well insulated spa and a good cover, it won't be all that frequent. My spa is in an unheated enclosed screen porch. It is set for 102 deg and no setback temp. Ut does not run very much at all. However, I also don't live in MN either.
  20. Huh? Quoted the wrong response, me thinks. One too many Labatt's my friend? 🤣
  21. Used Spa should be cheaper but has no warranty. New tub is probably more expensive but has a warranty. The Coast Spa is a far better quality spa than the Bueno Spa and new 7 years ago sold for what a new Bueno Spa sells for now. Is there a dealer involved with the Bueno Spa or is this from Sam's Club/Cosco/Wayfair, etc.? Buying from a big box store can be questionable on warranty service. Most of those contract an independent service tech while a dealer usually have in house technicians. You have to decide if a used, high quality tub that has no warranty is a better buy than a discount brand tub that will have a warranty but might be hard to get it serviced.
  22. Are there dip switches on that board? If so, you may have to make sure they are set right.
  23. Put a small space heater in the equipment compartment as well. Run it at low to medium heat.
