Newbie to this forum. I was looking at purchasing this home and had questions on the configuration of this pool. Anyone's advice would be appreciated.

I've attached a link to images on flickr of the pool. The pool's features are a water fall, a spa and some kind of wading pool? The wading pool is what

i am confused about. Not sure why it's there? It is just off a pool side bar but doesn't really work as a swim up. If anything, it's in the way. Also,

it looks to be about 4 feet deep and too small for children to wade in. No bench just stairs?

Any ideas for its existence? Hopefully my photo link works or i can send email images.

Thanks in advance.

I have never seen anything like this.

If you do get the house, you need to change the main drain grates and make sure that the main drains are safe.

"I have never seen anything like this. " HA! That's funny(but not really since i may be the one buying it). Thanks for looking anyway.

BTW, good point on the drains. I have kids, so I will check

during the inspection if these are safe.

Thanks.

Only thing i can think of is some kind of cold plunge for the spa? Or Baptismal pool?

LOL!!! Thanks guys.

I was thinking since it's next to the bar it may be a PeePeePool.

Stay tuned for my next round of questions when i show images of all the pipes, filters and pumps... in a segment i like to call "WTF"!!!!

The drain may not be a drain at all , but a return. Perhaps this was once a fountain or a spa that was abandoned due to leaking plumbing. There appears to also be only one drain in the pool and the spa also. I would reccommend you hire a pool pro to do an inspection. (or send a LOT more photos - dont forget the equipment)

idnmadt,

was kinda thinking the same thing on the drain being a return. Because there are no jets, i'd think if the water level fell below the wall, a drain would suck it dry.

I will definitely get more images next time there. My suspicion is that this pool will be the most expensive renovation of the house.

If I move into this place i owe you guys an explanation of it's origin if i ever get one.

It looks like someones great idea in theory came out very badly. Find out who the builder was they should be able to give some sort of answer.

I will be going for my inspection this friday. While i'm there i'll make note of the pool builder which i believe i had seen printed on the stair.

Thanks Pathfinder.

I will have lot's of pictures so you guys can tell me how F*@#ed i am. ;-)

I ran into a guy who has worked the mechanics of pools his whole life and described the situation to him. He had a pretty good guess that

it may have been put in for a handicapped person. I will confirm with the inspector this Saturday.

Thanks again guys. I have a feeling i will need your help in the near future. Looks like a lot of pool work is to come!
