Three thousand is tops for a used spa. anything more and you can get a goos spa with a warranty. Quote
spatech (the unreal one) Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 You can buy a lot of cheap spas for this price. Not a quality one. Regardless of whether this is a Catalina, Sundance, Hot Spring, Cal, Master or any other brand I can tell you that $6k for ANY 3 yr old spa sold by a spa owner that was $10k originally is certainly high. For the better spas out there I'd expect the price for a well maintained 3 yr old spa to drop to about 30-45% of original price (just a guesstimate of course). BTW, the warranty does not transfer. Newbie Posted November 15, 2009 Author Report Posted November 15, 2009 Those numbers are valid. But I'm not in an area that will weather out a spa. It's well kept, used occasionally for back aches and for fun. Doesn't scratch easy. If I had the space for it, I'd keep it. But could not figure out how to build around it. Quote
THE SPA GUY Posted November 15, 2009 Report Posted November 15, 2009 i agree too much for the used catalina, many new tubs right now in the 6,000 to 7,000 range with warranty, i know you state not in an area that will weather out, theere are alot of spas up in our neck of the woods in gazebos and enclosures that are not effected by the weather ,regardless of the brands for a used tub 3 years old or not is too much. there are a lot of good points here,by everyone. instead of posted here did you post on you local craigslist , the paper, this is a tough one to ge the price you want right now. Mikey_in_NY Posted November 15, 2009 Report Posted November 15, 2009 You're gonna really struggle to get anywhere near $6,000 for a 3 year old spa that originally cost $10,000, regardless of where you live, and how severe (or not) the weather might be. Right now dealers near me are offering brand new HS, Jacuzzi and Sundance low to mid range tubs for around $6,000 to $7,000, including warranty, optional extra's, etc. Quote

spatech (the unreal one) Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 $5000.00 Well $5k is still a little higher than the market normally would pay for a 3 yr old Catalina with no warranty (certainly more reasonable than $6k which you were obviously flexible on) but you had nothing to lose by asking high and you found the right buyer so good for you. Newbie Posted November 16, 2009 Author Report Posted November 16, 2009 Thank you guys. I do check this forum for info and it's been great. One of you said 50% of the cost of the spa was doable, so that's what we shot for. Quote
