Mounting 2nd cover to original Cradle Lift

We purchased a cover from The Cover Guy earlier this year. First one arrived damaged. By the time we received the replacement, we were just using the damaged cover and taking it on and off and setting it on the patio. I wished I had taken pictures of the original Hot Springs cover with the cradle, lift arms attached to the back plate. When I went to mount the cradle lift arms to the back of the new cover, the pivot brackets did not land on the mounting plate inside the cover. I work as a tool and diemaker in a well equipped toolroom. The only way this could have happened was if my old cover was only an inch and a half thick? I will try to attach a couple of photos showing the two brackets. If there’s anyone out there that could answer this question for me, I would greatly appreciate it. I even spoke to the gentleman who did my original installation three years ago, and he couldn’t answer this question for me. They work great by the way. I plan on making a new set and giving them a more finished look. Black Oxide or electro plating them with something to survive a more caustic environment.
