Georgina Gibson
Hi There, My in-ground hot tub has started heating beyond what it is set to and I am not sure why. It gets to 105-106 before switching off. I initially had it set to 104 but I have turned the thermostat down to 100 and it still does it. It went all the way to OH once (couple of weeks ago) but is usually around 106. The pump is running a lot .. presumably because something is calling for heat. The control board is a Balboa VS-500Z I have cleaned the filter and I currently have the filter cycle set to F2. I also changed from St to Ec mode but that hasn't made a difference either. I have attached a few pics in case they are helpful. Any ideas of what I should check next ? Thanks!
ratchett
Is the tub in direct sunlight? During the summer time my tub also gets too hot so I need to throw open the cover and let the heat bleed off in the evenings if I want to use mine during the summer
RDspaguy
Sounds like a stuck heater relay. Test voltage to the heater when the heat indicator is off.
Georgina Gibson
@ratchett...the tub is in direct sunlight but covered ... the heater was actually in direct sunlight also as we are re-doing the deck around it so it was uncovered. Sun definitely could be a contributing factor.. we are in New Mexico so days are pretty warm.
