rmcderm313
Hi All, I've seen conflicting info about whether pumps should be on or off when adding chemicals. I have a 2.5HP circulation pump that runs 24/7. Is that enough to distribute the chemicals. Should jet pumps and or a blower be on or off? Thanks, Rob

What kind of spa has a 2.5hp 24/7 circulation pump? Based on national average electrical rates that pump will cost you almost $200 per month all by itself. There is no conflict, you run jets when adding chems. Nobody with any knowledge or sense would say otherwise. Add them into the tub, not into the skimmer, filter well, etc...
rmcderm313
Whoops. No kind of spa has a 2.5HP circ pump. Total brain fart. It's 1/15 HP. My other 5 pumps are 2.5HP. Sorry about that. So with that clarified, does the rest of your answer still stand? With all my pumps running there is a ton of agitation. Should they all be on? How long should I keep them running after addition. I do leave the cover open for 15-20 minutes. Finally, what about the blower? Thanks! RDspaguy
Yes, answer still stands. The more agitation the faster and better the chemicals are mixed. Leaving the cover open after adding chems will prolong cover life. Blower pipes need water changed out as well, or it can become a stagnant little nasties growing environment in there.
rmcderm313
Thank you once again. My crash course in hot tub ownership and small electric motor repair wouldn't be possible without you guys. Rob
