Mickey the Finn
Forgive me if this has been answered already, but I am new to this forum. I am converting from Baquaspa to Bromine for my hot tub (220 gallons) because of an unending problem with brown goo. I have drained the tub and used a shop vac to get as much of the water out of the system. I have discarded the goo covered filter. I have MPS shock, and sodium bromide for my bromide reserve, and a floater with bromine tabs. Since the tub had Baquaspa, should I super shock it first with chlorine? If so, what levels do I bring it to.....and how long do I keep it there? If the chlorine shock is recommended, what is the process after that? At what point do I add the new filter? Or.........can I make this conversion without the chlorine shock by just using MPS shock, sodium bromide, and bromine tabs? Sorry for all the questions. This is my first hot tub, and Baquaspa was a nightmare for me.
KyleCT
If you have brown goo, I would use a product called SpaEase Jet Line Cleaner to flush you lines of that stuff, check out www.hottubchemicals.com, they will have all the stuff you need. You choice changing over to Bromine by the way.
dlleno
yes as you know, the baquagoo system is not chemically compatible with bromine. i would use this opportunity to purge the spa with Ahh-some before you switch. I'm a big fan of purging regularly anyway, but cutting over to bromine makes it even more beneficial
