look1angel
First I thought he was joking.. We have one of the largest fiberglass pools with cool decking surrounding it. It cost about $50,000.00 for everything & it's heated. He said he wants to dig it up & take it to our next home. We currently live in GA & will be moving to FL in a couple years. I however think this is COMPLETELY INSANE!!! I intend to buy a house with a pool instead of looking for a home to accommodate this crazy idea. We were lucky enough to have great neighbors to allow the trucks to come on their property when it was fist installed. He believes it will save us money by digging it up & taking it to the next house. I say it's crazy & will take away from the value of our home by destroying the landscaping & cool decking. Please tell him this is completely insane & costly. Thank you in advance
pool tile
Well, I wouldn't say he's crazy, but I don't think it's a good idea. You'll have to fill in the hole where the pool was and landscape the area. Your house will be worth less. You'll have to hire a crane to remove the pool. You need a transport trailer and truck to move the pool shell. If you currently own the house in Florida, you should have the custom measured hole ready to receive the pool shell. I don't think it's economically feasible.
waterbear
I agree, It would probably cost less to have a new pool built or installed, especially considering the pool market in Florida! It is very competitive!
PoolMaster
I would also be afraid of something happening to the shell in this entire process. It could potentially be a lot of wasted money...
ArtisticPoolsCorp
I agree with Mr. Ault. I am in the fiberglass pool industry and transport pools around the east coast for Leisure Pools out of Knoxville TN. Leave the pool there and buy a new one. Hope your move goes well! Lee12
Yep. It's a lot of hassle for something that might very well, in the end, turn out costing you a lot of money in a very real way - life another poster said, the shell might get damaged beyond repair, and then what do you do? Transportation is going to be a really big cost, too... All in all, I don't think it's worth it!
