Asfyxiate
Hey guys, Just looking for opinions on how you clean your cartridge filters. I've tried a various amount of different ways with more or less success. I'm also looking to see if it's alright to soak/use a weak HCl (acid magic) solution on it. As always, I appreciate the advice.
waterbear
NEVER acid wash a cart unless you have degreased it first by hosing it off, soaking in either REAL TSP (NOT phosphate free TSP substitute) or automatic dishwashing powder at the rate of 1 cup per every 5 gallons of water. Otherwise the organic matter on the cart can harden into a cement like material ruining the cart. Do not acid wash unless there is actually calcium buildup on the cart because acid washing shortens cart life. Only acid wash if and when necessary. If the cart does not bubble when a few drops of dilute acid are applied it does not need acid washing.
