Pool Priming Problems

Hi, I'm trying to fully open my pool up and vacuum it, but my pump is not priming. I've checked the pipes and emptied the air out of the filter, but that didn't help me. I'm not sure but i believe that when we first opened up the pool with the pool guy it was working, but I'm not sure. It takes a while to get to the "almost priming level in the video below" but once it's there the suction is weak. I can't vacuum my pool..HELP. I've checked the following:

• Filled water in pump
  
• Checked for leaks
  
• Backwash
  
• Clean gaket
  
• Emptied air out of the filter

It looks like your pump basket is in backward. Did I see a pipe running right across the heater?

LOL thats quite the set up! My bet is on a damaged/missing gasket on the lid, unions or shut offs. Check the drain plug gaskets also.

The basket is definitely in backwards. The back is wider than the front. When you try to put the basket in backwards, it does not go all of the way down and it blocks the flow of water. There is probably debris in the impeller due to the basket not being put in correctly.
