AFiremanFirst
The basics. Pentair MiniMax NT TSI. Model 400TSI. Residential heater. model# 400 NT TSI N H. FENWAL ignition system. The problem. My heater is 6 yrs old. Salt pool, perfectly balanced, no leaks. My heater works one day, and quits the next, no changes. Manual timer (dial) controls for the pump and cleaner. I turn the pump on, move the valves for spa heat. wait... turn the heater on... Power light (check), Pressure switch light (check), fan kicks on, 15 secs. fan slows down (as normal). Obnoxious smell of Natural gas (mercaptin). Heater doesn't light. Fan speeds back up 45 secs. Cycle repeats 3 times... Open the door to the controls... No dead man switch. FENWAL ignition system flashes 3 times indicating a "ignition lock-out". ANY HELP??? A Fireman First Pool Services D/FW TX USA Personal pool, not a contract. I'm a tech with 20 weekly contracts but heaters are not my thing! Thanks guys!!!
Pool Clown
Remove the HSI and inspect (very closely) for cracks. You may not be able to see cracks (at first look) on an HSI that is being intermittent.

Bugman1400
HSI = Hot Surface Igniter. Some people call it a "glow bar". I can see mine glowing off a reflection in the bottom stainlees steel pan in my LAARS LT400N.
