Sundance 700 Series Vs. 800 Series Vs. Hot Springs

We recently wet tested a Sundance Cameo (800 series) even though we are interested in a 700 Series Certa, but that was not immediately available to wet test. We liked the Cameo very much, thought the jets were very powerful and liked the seating config. We told the salesman we were still interested in the Certa, and he claimed the 700 series has the same jets as Hot Springs, that the 800 series jets are better. So we went and wet tested a Hot Springs Aria, also liked the jets but not the config.

Question is: is there really a difference in the SD 800 series jets vs. 700 series or HS or is it just hype in order to get you to spend more money for a spa?

Would thick looking side by side..the answer is yes. The hardware seems to be the same Seating arraignment seems the same. Pull them up side by side..Great thing about the hot tub world is it can be the small things that matter..sit in hot water well.

If you chack the Sundance website you will see that the Cameo does have different, and more powerful pumps than the Certa.

If you check the Sundance website you will see that the Cameo does have different, and more powerful pumps than the Certa.

If you haven't done so already, go to the Sundance Spas webpage and click on the Cameo tub. Open a second window go to Sundance Spas and click on the Certa tub. You can then go to the "specifications" tab on each tub and with two windows open you can see a side-by-side comparison of the difference in specs. For more information on the jets, just click on the "jets" tab and do the same side-by-side comparison. You will see the differences between the two tubs instantaneously. For more detailed information on each jet, just click on the "more about our jets" link on the left hand side of the "jets" tab. The differences in the type and design of the jets may not be as important to you as the cost factor for such differences, but there are clear differences in the jets of the two Sundance tubs.

If he really said the 700 series has the same jets as the Hot Spring he was either ignorant or lying. Both brands use their own jets. You won't find the same jets in any Sundance that Hot Spring has.

Well said. Both manufacturers use their own jets. Hot Spring in particular, designs their own jets (rather than buying them from wholesale manufacturers). The feel of the jets will definitely be different. Ultimately, that's one of the things you want to nail down during your test soak. For example, my wife is all about the Moto-Massage DX jet that Hot Spring has in the lounge seat of that Aria model. For her, no hot tub is good enough unless it has that particular jet. It's what works for her. Sundance doesn't have a jet that does the same thing the Moto-Massage does. So they aren't the same.

Ultimately you need to decide what works for you the best, all things included.

From a feature and spec type standpoint, the Hot Spring Spas (like the Aria) really should be compared to the Sundance 880 Series. Both are the flagship products of their respective manufacturers. Also, specifically when comparing the 780 series with the Hot Spring, keep in mind the 780's don't come standard with a circulation pump (and when you add one, it's not exactly the same as the Hot Spring circ pump). It's not always as easy to compare directly as one might think.

However, this will be a hot tub you keep for a long time (10 - 15 years maybe?). So pick one that you're comfortable with, both physically and psychologically. And pick a dealer you can trust as well. They'll be the ones helping you keep that hot tub running in tip top shape for the next several years.
