Sogdiana
I am at the last stage of my inground pool construction and I just noticed that the my plumber installed a skimmer at a lower level than the spill of the spa. Next week we are putting interrrior finish and are planning to fill it with water and I am not sure if the spill is going to work properly if the skimmer is 6'' lower. In case if you were wondering why I don't ask the plummer - he passed away 3 weeks ago from a stroke. Also it was just brought to my attention by plastering crew that my pool has no drain on the bottom. I remmebr my plummer told me there wasn't why - something with the recent changes to the FL pool code. Please advise on my both issues. Thanks! geeman
Is the skimmer in the pool or the spa? Is it a raised spa? A lot of guys are not installing main drains because they do not want to be responsible for any related injuries. Modern pool cleaners take its place. You would have to set up a separate pump if you ever wanted to drain the pool.
jughead
well the skimmer has to be lower than the spill over if it was higher it would suck air . when system is in pool mode ( if you have a pool spa combo ) that spa suction line is dead headed . when you go into spa mode it will suck from that skimmer you are talking about and your spa will being circulating isolated from pool ( no water going over spill way back to pool )
jughead
as to why skimmer and not split anti entrapment main drains might be cheaper and or possibly safer
