Spa Rebuild Project

Hi all

Im rebuilding a spa that needs pump, control, blower and top control

All would have to be 220v (Im in Australia)

I'm after any suggestions on the right gear for the job.

So far the supply outlets in Australia seem to be far more expensive than

comparable companies in the USA. So I have been toying with sourcing

all the gear from the USA. (freight maybe a killer)

Has anyone had dealings with Poolbargains.com?

They seem to have the best prices overall and do ship OS.

To help with suggestions here is the original specs of the spa:

Heritage Riverside Spa

Pumps:1 x3.6 BHP [ Two Speed ]

JetsTotal 56: Water Jets - 14 Air Jets - 20

Air Manifold Outlets - 22

Heater: 2.0 KW

Controller:Gecko/Digital/Programmable

Touch Pad

Temperature Readout

Filtration: 50 Sq.ft.Cartridge

Blower: 1100 Watts

Water Capacity: 700 Litres

Thanks

Sorry should have told the whole story!!

I need all these parts as I got the spa at the local dump! It consists of the spa shell, metal frame, red cedar skirt all plumbing. It is in mint condition and for some reason some person removed all the pump/ controller , blower and top control + a ozonator and dumped a perfectly good shell and skirt.

So.... Im thinking for a couple of grand I could upgrade my old spa for a current model to my specs!! But not being a spa expert Im after suggestions from those in the know as to the right gear to put in it.

Cheers

Glenn

Hi,

I would suggest you to first try some online sites because you are assembling the spa so you should find the individual rates of every parts then make a budget. There is not need to install all the parts, only go for necessary things if you want to assemble in minimum price.

Checking the rates individually will give you basic idea about the parts.

Thanks,

Dustin

Thanks for the replies,

I'm no electrician, but I think the power supply in Australia is 240v 50hz.

I have been trawling the internet for the various parts and American companies

run rings around the rest in both price and range.

Im narrowing down the pump choices and I'm keen on the Waterway Executive

3hp 2 speed. Any opinions on this pump.

Now I'm all for shopping local (Australia) but .... as an example the pump above

in the USA is around $290USD. In Australia would you believe $1,142.00!!!

I dont begrudge a business a mark-up but don't you think thats a bit rich!

I figure even if the freight is a bit hefty I'll still be a mile infront if I source the gear

from the States.

Cheers

Take the tub back to the dump and buy a new one..you'll be better off in the long run.

It looks like Heritage Spas is an AU manufacturer. I could be wrong about this but wouldn't it be cheaper to source the pumps and electronics directly from them or do they not sell direct?

Oh... I think AU is 240V, 50Hz, single or 3-phase.

Thanks ChaiSTi

Yes Heritage Spas a manufactured in Australia. As far as I can tell jets and pump

are Waterway, controller is Gecko but Im not stuck on replacing the gear with the exact same

specs. And Im not that well off that I can shell out 4 times the price I could get the gear from America.

All Im asking the good people of the forum is for their opinions on the right gear for this size spa.

And to the Poolandspadude! . . .

Why would I take a current model spa with galvanised metal frame with all jets, plumbing and western red cedar skirt - All in great condition "Back to the DUMP"!

Mate if you can't contribute something positive - WHY BOTHER POSTING!

Cheers

Make sure all the screws and rivets in that metal frame are tight. Those things can start rattling as they get loosened up and make allot of racket.
