razoo125
My Cal Spa starts to boil the water when it is in priming mode, If I don't hit the jets button, I will get an HH message. When I hit the jets, the hot tub will heat up until it gets to 110deg. and I get an error code. Balboa told me that the board was bad. I ended up buying a Balboa VS 500 spa pack to replace it with. I don't mind having extra parts from the 6000, because I am on my own when it comes to fixing my hot tub(no dealers or Techs in immediate area). I think it is exactly the same as the old one, but just a different sticker on the outside. How hard will it be to replace the pack? The dimensions are the same and it is already wired for 220, so I am guessing it shouldn't be too tough. Any tips/ tricks will be much appreciated. Should I sent the old circuit board off to get repaired so that I have a backup? Thanks!

There are dip switch on the pc board that should be pre-set for the pack you have. Check the pumps nameplates to see what voltage they are. Next to each plug for equipment is a white wire. if the device is 220 the wire goes go the red ac box on the left side of the board if the equipment is 110 volts it goes to white ac box. you will see the label when you see all the white wires. Other than that follow the diagram on the inside cover to plug the equipment in
Pathfinder
Your relay for the heater is stuck open. This happened to me on a bunch of lower end Cal models. The board is fine just the relay needs to be replaced. Im gonna guess the relays dont say Zettler but a name that starts with N. An electronics repair or supply shop may be able to change out that relay. No offense to the tech support people but that is the mostly always the answer for any issue. Is the relay something that just plugs in, or do I need special tools to replace it. I am not even sure what it looks like. Any Idea of where I can order a replacement? Thanks! The relays are little black box looking things on the pc board. The reason Balboa does not tell people to replace the relay is because of the way the boards are made. They could have layers and unsoldering or soldering parts back in could ruin it. It is best to have it repaired by some one who works on pc boards
razoo125
I replaced the pack and everything was very easy. I had to convert it to 240v because it came from the factory set at 110v. Thanks to all you guys.
