Jos
The problems with the Sundance Capri: When not in use the circulation pump switched on and off randomly The display also went blank or only showed horizontal bars. Pushing the controls had no effect. When display functioned correct also all the other items worked correctly. Then all of a sudden everything worked fine for one day, and then it started again. At this moment it does not do anything at all anymore. Resetting; power off and on again gives no changes. I checked all the fuses and connections and everything seems to be in order. What can be the cause of this behaviour? Is it the circuit board, or can it be just the EPROM or maybe the control panel? E This is a somewhat common problem on the lower end Sundance tubs. It could be the topside, PC board or both. Besides the symptoms you have noted, sometimes the display will flash one number at a time, rather than the full temp display. Troubleshooting involves connecting a known good topside to the existing board to see what happens. You should still be under warranty though. I was thinking the same direction. There is a dealer on our island, but he refuses to give any support or even sell us any parts, because we did not buy the spa from him. So I will have to go on a search for a replacement topside first. I already found some online, but most were older models. Maybe you have any suggestions here? Jos From what you described it is not the board or the top side I think you have a bad tempsensor is what it sounds like to me and the Capri is not a low end sundance it is in the top of the line series 880. part number 6600-167 temp sensor box end. Thanks James. Indeed the Capri is a top line product. I checked the temperature sensor. The resistance was around 15kOhm.When I warmed it up a bit with my hand, the resistance was going down. So I suppose it is still working correctly?

So I suppose it is still working correctly? My error. I think I completely misread your original post. Yes, you have the higher end controller. It sounds like you are getting a watchdog error. This is most likely a bad temp sensor, but be sure you check your filter and ensure good flow through the heater. John
rusty-D
don't believe me, but on some Gecko controls, that is a sign of a bad pressure or flow switch stuck closed... you might want to check continuity on the switch while the pump is on and off. you should not have cont. when the pump is off and have cont. when the pump is on. good luck
mrfixit
I dunno about the temp sensor... it would seem to me that shutting down the tub because of a bad temp sensor would be fatal in a cold Canadian winter. A block of ice that big would take until the following July to thaw. I would think it would go into freeze protect mode with a bad sensor, ie running the pumps continually. What did you mean "it doesn't do anything any more" Is that the tub you are talking about, or the control pad being non responsive? My vote is with a bad control pad or bad board. No problems with those temperatures here. I am living in the Caribbean, so an average of 30C / 86F When I put the power plug in, the control pad only shows horizontal bars and does not react on any button that is pushed. Also I noticed after opening the control pad that the LED used for backlighting was flickering in a low frequency. The tub is also doing nothing, so no circulation pump or blower or anything. The flow switch is in an open position. Jos
