Help With Info On Marquis 220, 545 And 660

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

I would like to ask some questions about the new Marquis Family models, which I was told by 3 sales reps that this is Marquis answer to the recession. Basically they have not added detailed specs about the 3 models and have not listed them on their web site, perhaps because they don't plan to continue these models.

I have searched for a week for a 3 person tub and wondering if that would be adequate for me as I am 6' 2" tall and weigh 255 pounds.

When I sit in the 322 which stands for 3 persons 22 jets, I have trouble fitting my shoulder inside and the top of the tub is too high to rest it on the edge (without water). he filled it up with cold water today, and the water line was very low and I am not sure I am going to reach my shoulder over the edge. The problem is with my shoulder in the tub, the back jets on the lounge does not match in the center of my back and I am about an inch past the edge of the lounge edge due to my shoulder being inside the tub with me.

It has one pump, and a waterfall and light and a supposedly 125 gpm pump, rated at about 1.5 hp, or that is what I am told. The rep said anything bigger and it would be too powerful in a 180 gallon tank with 22 jets. I like the tub, but they want $3500 plus tax and steps and cover lift, cash only.

I looked at the 545 and it is roomier in the lounge and has two thigh jets that I like. I offered them $4K cash, but they will only go down to 4800 cash, plus cover lift and steps extra.

These are not made with the same specs and quality of the regular Marquis. They do not carry the same warranty as the regular Marquis's do.

I have searched for a tub for therapeutic purposes only and there is only me, for the most part and I am not sure I can justify the extra cost for the 545, but the size is nice, but it is a $1000 more.

I have been on some many web sites and talked to so many sales reps for just about every major maker of tubs out there. I have looked at a real nice used Hot Spring Sovereign but the proprietory electronic system frighens me as they have heating problems, judging by the huge heat sinks on 4 of their chips, but could be controlled by adding larger heat sinks or keeping the door open with a fan when heating the water up.

After determine today about the 322 might be a little cramped in the lounge, I looked at the 545. There were other tubs that looked similar in size in the lounger and some that I could not get my feet all the way in.

They don't provide a detailed spec sheet. More like a feature sheet. Can anyone tell me or knows someone who owns one of the types of Marquis and what their opinion is, or can tell me more about them and if I should go to the 545 which is 3.5 inches taller and 20 inches wider than the 322?

I am ready to give up and give them the money they are asking because if the 322 (I am testing it tomorrow) doesn't work, I am going to have to start my search all over.

Also, what about the Costco Cal Spas Majestic series. They have a 5-6 seater and a 3 person seater for $2995 until 7/05? Is there another brand and model you would recommend. I was only allocated 4K from my home loan for a hot tub?

I would appreciate an answer soon as I am ready to give up and I am so tired at looking at hot tubs after 5 days and 100's of hours and over 150 miles of driving.

Thanks in advance,

Michael

Your post is in the forum introduction, you might get more responses in the "Portable Hot Tubs and Spas" section.

To answer some of your questions, the Everyday line from Marquis is made with the same equipment as the rest of the models, and you're still getting a high quality, reliable spa. These spas are far superior to a Cal Spa. The Cal Spa uses "euro jets" aka bullet jets which are so small that they do absolutely nothing for you. The prices you were quoted on both models are very very good. As a comparison, my store sells the 322 for $4,500, and the 545 for $5,995. I've had some customers complain that the 322 was too deep, so I would think it would fit you alright. If it doesn't, I would go for the 545.
