Deb04
I read somewhere that you shouldn't use dry acid in a SWG pool? Is that correct? If so, is it a huge prolem that I've already used some (less than 1/4 of a small bottle) in my pool? Strannik
It's better not to use dry acid in any pool. It's not a huge problem if you did.
punkjay
why cant you use dry acid in a swimming pool? (sodium bi sulphate)?
chem geek
The reason is that high sulfate levels can affect some SWG cells. However, I've never heard exactly how high the sulfate level needs to be before there are any problems. Dry acid is sodium bisulfate and adds to sulfates in the water (sulfuric acid also adds to sulfates as does MPS non-chlorine shock). Muriatic Acid is Hydrochloric Acid so only adds to chloride (salt) and not to sulfates.
