  1. The warnings on the bottle scared my husband. The fumes coming from the bottle scared me. Is the sulphur bad for the cell or does something bad happen when it reacts with the salt?
  2. We used soon muriatic aicd today because our TA is way too high (270) and I learned here that I should not have been using pH Minus since we have a SWG. That muriatic acid stuff is scary. Why is the pH Minus not good with the SWG?
  3. I read somewhere that you shouldn't use dry acid in a SWG pool? Is that correct? If so, is it a huge prolem that I've already used some (less than 1/4 of a small bottle) in my pool? Thanks ---------------------- SWG 25,000 Gallons Vinyl IG Cartridge Filter
  4. We just (this month) had an 18 X 36 vinyl pool installed with heater, SWG, cartridge filter, pump and labor for $25K in New England. That didn't include the cost of excavator, which was about $7K.
  5. We just got our first pool and we need to get a solar cover. I've been looking on line and saw the Solar Sun Rings. They look like a great idea, but many things look great that are flops. Reviews on Amazon are very mixed. Has anyone used these? Do they work, in terms of warming the pool? Can they be stacked when they aren't on the pool? Do you have to deflate and re-inflate them each time you take them off the pool? Do they stay on the pool or do they blow off? Do the magnets keep them connected? Are they easier to remove than a regular cover? Thanks
  6. So, the contractor just installed the cartridge filter. It's a Stay-Rite System 3 S7M120 300 sq ft. Our pool is about 24000 gallons. Is this filter big enough?
  7. Hi. We are putting in a pool for the first time and we are relying on our pool contractor's knowledge for a lot. We are concerned about backwashing because we are surrounded by wetlands. We are uncomfortable putting large amounts of treated water where it will probably end up in the wetlands. The pool guy had been encouraging us in to a DE filter. As we talked more about our reservations, he suggested a Sta-Rite cartridge filter. Does anyone have any experience with this type of filter for an in ground pool? Thanks.
  8. I am a Newbie. We are in the process of putting in a pool. The pool guy is pushing a DE filter, but we're concerned about the poisonous nature of the DE. When we backwash, our only choices of where the water goes is: On to an area that is very near our well In to an area very close to wetlands Over our septic leech field. The last option seems the best, but I'm concerned about the clorine messing up the septic bacteria. I've been reading about safe alternatives to DE material that you use in a DE filter. Has anyone tried them? Do they work? Thanks. Deb04
