  1. high salt doesn't damage the cell, it usually damages transformers and other power components on units which are not protected against it low salt damages the cell in a sense that it has to work harder to produce same amount of chlorine.
  2. can you put some photos up? surely you could try and get couple of bags of leveling mix and fix it up yourself?
  3. i don't think you are allowed to use them on their own in USA, at least not in public pools chem geek would know more in fact i can swear i just read a post by him on ionizers last week, referencing different materials saying that they are not approve by EPA for sole use
  4. quite possible however, did you measure the actual salt level?
  5. That's not true. A lot of chlorine generators have 4500 as a minimum, which is much higher than 3000ppm you are recommending.
  6. that's actually a bad thing instead of shutting off, it will just burn the transformer but that will happen somewhere around 6-8000ppm, 4000 shouldn't be a problem
  7. EcoSmarte is not a proper sanitation system, so id steer clear of it in fact i'd steer clear of anything which mentions that you don't require chlorine at all
  8. deya: silver or copper ions are fine when the only people swimming in the pool are you, your wife and kids if you have other people coming - it's not enough
  9. unless you are handy with multimeter, you will have to take it to service center
  10. so why did you go with Jandy again if you are not happy with them?
  11. which technology are you talking about in particular/ salt water chlorinators?
  12. salt water (in concentrations required for operation of SWG) cannot cause any reactions it's about the concentration of human tears so you would be having reaction all the time other than that - yeah it's chloramines shock your pool, try to find out what causes the level to rise
  13. ozone lamps are normally good for 15k-25k hours, then you have to replace them
  14. seeing that the element which got cooked is a current limiter i suspect that your salt was way too high, or cell was shorted which made current shoot into the sky
  15. 400# for what amount of water? first thing would be to make sure the cell is clean, second to test water with strips, and then call in support as Intellichlors are notorious for failing salt sensors
  16. to protect chlorine from being broken down by sun and reduce chlorine demand it's like sunscreen
  17. sure there are: sodium thiosulfate, Sodium hydroxymethanesulphonate (called AmQuel) Sodium hydroxymethane sulfinic acid (called Bio-safe)
  18. By mineral pack you mean Mineral Springs unit? It's rebranded aquarite, and they use blend of usual house hold items like salt, borax etc and call it fancy name. When considering a SWG you need to also consider the price of replacement cells and spare parts. Something that looks like a good buy might turn sour if something brakes outside warranty period.
  19. what do they use to chlorinate your pool? if i were you i would chlorinate it yourself with bleach
  20. if you want your chlorine to last longer you can bump up cya to 60-70 but then you will need to keep higher FC level to get same sanitation effect
  21. Put a pool cover on, so you don't get the debris in your pool? Although be prepared to get an occasional tree through the pool cover.
  22. That would be the signs of cell failing You could certainly buy one and replace it, although i would get a workshop to test it first, just in case it's not the cell but a power supply
