asharerin
We are thinking of purchasing a 2005 Tiger River Sumatran. The current owner had it converted to 230V. We do not have a 230V line but would like to use 110V. Can we convert the spa back to 110V? Can we do that ourselves or would we need an electrician? Will there be a huge hole in the side of the tub where the 230V wiring went? Apparently the spa is in like new condition but the warranty cannot be transferred. What would be a fair price for this spa?
cplarsen
No doubt you can. It would probably be just resetting the jumper and a new wiring harness (and yes, check with dealer or electrician first) The real question is, why would you want to? At 110v, you won't get any heat while the jets are going. Look at the specs, you'll be going to a 1500w heater on 110v from a 6000w heater on 230v. Spend a little extra up front to get the 230v put in, you'll be much happier in the long run. There's a reason the last guy upgraded it. Unfortunately our current house is ancient and it is going to cost north of $1500 to upgrade the electric and have the 230V installed. I prefer to soak without jets so that would not really be an issue.
