When I started my spa, I went to a local pool and spa supply place to have my water tested. I was told to add 8 oz. of stain and scale upon startup and 2 oz per week thereafter. I didn't bother reading the label at that time. I have since read the label and according to the information on it, for a 500 gallon spa, I should have used 37.5 ml. I used 8 oz, which is 240ml. I think I will drain my spa and start over.

I would take another sample of the water back to the place and have them test it again to make sure that something is wrong. It's worth the trip at least to make sure that you have to drain it.

What brand did you use? You may not have to drain your tub. Many of these products (stain and scale) will not hurt you and many suggest a higher start up dose to remove any impurities in the fill water. Your dealer may be right...check into it first.

The brand was Leslie's. Hubby has decided to have city water hauled in so we won't have to add so many chemicals.
