  1. Yes, I wait at least 4 hours, usually a couple of days before going in after adding the PH down. I am the only one being affected by it(8 users total over a 2 month period) I am having a hard time getting the PH to stay in normal range. Tends to drift up every day or so. I even had water hauled in because our well water is so hard. (thought it would be easier to balance). I've thought about adding a PH stabilizer, but I hate to add even more chemicals. The irritation shows up about 6 hours after I have used the spa, even though I shower afterward. Luckily the itching (intense) only lasts about 36-48 hours, and no noticible rash. I've been wanting a spa for years, and this is very disappointing. I will consider the muriatic acid. Thanks
  2. Ok, through trial and testing, I have discovered that it is the PH down that I am using to lower the PH in my spa that is causing my skin reaction. I have tried 3 different brands, but they are all Sodium Bisfulate. Is there something I can use instead to lower the PH in my spa?
  3. The brand was Leslie's. Hubby has decided to have city water hauled in so we won't have to add so many chemicals.
  4. When I started my spa, I went to a local pool and spa supply place to have my water tested. I was told to add 8 oz. of stain and scale upon startup and 2 oz per week thereafter. I didn't bother reading the label at that time. I have since read the label and according to the information on it, for a 500 gallon spa, I should have used 37.5 ml. I used 8 oz, which is 240ml. I think I will drain my spa and start over.
  5. Thanks, that might be a good option. It's awfully frustrating not being able to use the tub while watching everyone else enjoy it. I've been wanting one for a long time, so it's been rather frustrating

  7. Hi, I am hoping to get some information regarding the use of RO water in a hot tub. I recently purchased a used spa. We have well water that is very hard/corrosive. I had my water tested. PH 7.2 TA 250 Calcium hardness 700. They instructed me to use Stain and scale on startup. It raised my PH to over 8.4 and had to use PH down. I have found that I am very sensitive to one or both of these chemicals. I get an extremely itchy rash within a sort peiod of time after using the spa. No one else has had any reaction. 5 other users. I am using chlorine, and I know that I am not allergic to it, cause I have used my sister's spa with no reaction, however, they have great water and do not have to adjust using these other chemicals. I am considering having RO water hauled in. What are the pros and cons of doing this?
