  1. A co worker of mine has a Hot Springs Spa (Hot Tub) and it leaks. The local dealer says it probably is from mice, which is probably correct. They want 1500.00 to haul it in and fix it. Any ideas to try first before spending that kind of money? thanks, Jim
  2. Can't seem to get my wife outside in the cold to the hot tub even at 101 degrees. Sooooooooooooooooooooooooo we haven't used it in weeks. Any ideas on how to remedy this problem? Help please......
  3. How do you replace the sensor? Do you need to drain the tub below the sensor level or can you do it full? Does it snap in or is it sealed in with silicon or something like that. My sensor on my heater went bad and I have a new harness one probe is on the heater and the other I have hanging over the side of the tub to get the temp reading ofthe water. I would really like to have it installed properly, seems like that could be something I could do myself. Thanks for the help, Jim
  4. We got ours at JC penney on line for about 50.00. Tried the velour ones...they sucked. Clinged to your body tight. Really like the Terry Cloth ones.
  5. Here is my problem. If I use the drops method, "Acua Chem", I get a pH around 7.8 to 8. If I use the test strips I got from my Spa dealer, not out of date, I get 7.2. Which one is correct? I am taking a water sample in tomorrow to the dealer. My TA was 80 this morning and my Bromine was 1.0 So I added Bromine. I had to leave for work so I will check it again this afternoon. I am real new to this Spa Chemicals, have read the posts given for tubs. Is there a Chemicals for Dummy's? I have the pH up and dwn, Spa Shock, Bromine granules, and a pH & Water Hardness up. Is there anything else that i need? Do I need a floater for Bromine or is granules enough when it gets low? Any ideas about the drop method or the test strips? thanks for the help, Jim
  6. Beautiful ice fog at -37C (-34F) this morning just south of Edmonton, AB. (At least we didn't get 100cm of snow like our friends in Ontario). My spa lost 4 degrees in 45 minutes or so, but still a nice session. I always like the venturis open, so some of that heat loss could have been prevented I suppose...Season's Greetings to All! Glad I'm in Tennessee. 40 seems cold. Can't wiat for January 1, going to Puerto rico for a week!!! Jim
  7. I bought a used 1999 Marquis Tub from a guy last month. I knew on the font end that the heater was bad and that was all that was wrong with it...so far. Got it replaced by the dealer here and we are enyoying it greatly. Make sure you have a good dealer to work with. The Marquis factory folks have been good at answering questions about this used tub. Sent me a manual too. We just could not afford a new tub right now. Everyone on this site is REAL good at answering you questions when problems arise, and they will arise. Ask questions, even the simple ones. Review older posts. Sit back and enjoy your tub whatever you choose. My 10 cents... Jim
  8. It's funny how quickly you get used to the idea of feet of snow....I really didn't think much about it...I mean it's only 10" of snow right? Then I started to think..really...that is quite a bit. Good thing I cleaned it off...we are waist deep now....and getting more. I hate snow! I had a guy come up to me the other day and start complaining about the cold and snow. I asked him if he had a brain tumor or was sick or something, he said no. I then proceeded to call him an idiot for choosing northern Minnesota to live in if he didn't like the cold and snow because for the last 51 years of my life it has never been warm and sunny in the winter in Minnesota. And somehow maybe that slipped by him or he's an idiot. I shouldnt complain....I know what I am in for! I have one hell of a bad attitude this week....a couple of feet of snow to shovel and a full blown case of Pneumonia......thought I was going to die on the sidewalk yesterday! From a fellow northerner, one word: Snowblower. Oh yeah.....was all excited to use my new one.....and on the first pull of the handle....bang, the head gasket blew out. Too bad I had already sold my old one...great luck this week for me! Come on down to Tennessee!!!
  9. I have a used Marquis Tub and when I got the tub it had 2 sets of Temperature probes one connected and one not. The first harness connected to the curcuit board had one element attached to the heater and one laying on the ground beside the pumps. The second harness was connected to the heater and the other probe was installed into the tub itself but not plugged in to the curcuit board. I plugged in the second harness, the one with the probe in the tub, to the curcuit board and I started getting a over heat alarm on the readout. I then unplugged that harnessand plugged in the first harness that had the probe elaying on the ground and all worked fine and has for about 3 weeks now. I have the probe laying over the side of the tub to get a reading of the temperature of the water. I would like to put it in the tub where it is supposed to go. My question... Is it difficult to replace the probe? Do you have to drain the tub below the probe or can it can be pulled out and replaced. Does it have to glued in? OR... Can I clip the wires to the second probe on the heater and replace THAT probe by sodering the wires to new probe, since it is alreay in the tub. I hope this is not to confusing... Jim
  10. External Thermometer is probably not calibrated, just one off the shelf from Walmart. Water just seem to be 98 degrees as indicated on the tub. thanks,
  11. Having trouble with my temperature read out on my 1999 Marquis Destiny. An external thermometer is reading 3 degrees lower than the telperature on the keypad on the tub. Is there a way to calibrate the tub temp reading? thanks, Jim
