Inground Pool Leaks

What is the most likely place for an in ground pool to leak? An almost new pool.

Skimmer throat, Main drain sump, or my favorite, Light niche conduit.

Or the dreaded broken pipe (stressed from settling/movement) underground...

Is the pool vinyl, fiberglass or concrete?

How much water are you losing per day?

How long has the pool been leaking?

Pool is concrete and I have been losing about 1/2" a day even when there is no sun out and the day is in the low 70s. I has been losing water about a month plus.

"Almost new pool" Less than a year? If so, Pool builder should stand behind this.

I agree with PC. The builder needs to get this fixed under warranty if it is less than 1 year or they have a good reason to believe that it is not their fault.

My first guess would be the hydrostat. If you vacuumed over the main drain, you might have caused it to partially open and it could be stuck open.

I will give the pool one more test before loosing my cool over this. I am going to do the bucket tests next week. It was only in September I got my final inspection on the pool. If I see it is still leaking I will give them a call on Wednesday.

Wow! I forgot to post back on my conclusion with the leak problem. The pool builders came back and checked it out and there is a plug in the skimmer that was not seated properly. Now it makes a big difference. I still add about an inch of water, but once every 10 to 12 days.
