ps558 Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 My hayward sand filter has presure of 30 pounds and i have backwash and get down to 28pds. When the pump and filter is off does the pressure gage go to zero? these gages are junk really, try a new one before going crazy. Also how old is the sand, it may need to be changed if it came from a discount store. Put the valve on recirculate it the pressure any different? test at the pool returns also Quote

Pool Clown Posted October 16, 2009 Report Posted October 16, 2009 High speed may be too much flow for the filter (gpm). That may be why your gauge only drops 2 psi after a backwash on a NEW system. Quote
