mrfixit Posted August 24, 2009 Report Posted August 24, 2009 Hey all- I was asked by a customer the other day if there are any products out there that are designed to keep birds off their solar cover. it seems that she has a flock of starlings that like to gather on her solar cover for their morning bathing rituals, almost on a daily basis. She is quite upset about this because, of course, they make a heck of a mess. Other than a shotgun, any idea's? Quote
txpoolguy Posted August 29, 2009 Report Posted August 29, 2009 The best solution (and very inexpensive) I"ve ever seen is to put some small posts/staks around the pool perimeter, then run a network of strings over the top of the cover - crossing the pool from one stake to another on the opposite side. (Imagine wagon wheel spokes) Usually, only 4 or 5 strings across the pool will discourage them from landing on the cover. Quote
Pool Clown Posted August 29, 2009 Report Posted August 29, 2009 My father in law has a pond that has the same problem, kinda. He got this "Scarecrow" thing from a hardware store. Its a sprinkler that is hooked up to a motion sensor. It gives a shot of sprinkler just for 2 seconds or so. It works real well for him. Quote
mrfixit Posted August 31, 2009 Author Report Posted August 31, 2009 both great idea's- thanks. I will pass them on. Quote
