Yanco
I have a 2 year old Arctic Spa hot tub and I just finished troubleshooting a water flow issue. Turns out the filter bypass flapper valve broke off and was stuck at the face of the impeller. Is this thing even necessary or should I just leave it out? CanadianSpaTech
At 2 years is it not under Warranty? When the spa is filtering and running on low speed the spring loaded flapper is closed and water is pulled through the filter. When you hit the spa into high speed the flapper will open and draw the extra water needed to supply the pump through the returns in the foot well. If the flapper is missing you will have decreased filtration. It is not an expensive part but can be tricky to install with the limited working space. Can you run without it... Would likely depend on how much you use the spa and your water quality will tell you.
