Muliport won't go back on!

Appearances can be deceiving. If it were flush and centered the valve would go on. I know of no way to move it once it is full of sand. If you try to force it you could break your laterals. You are going to have to remove the sand and try again. New filters come with a plastic or cardboard doohickey (technical term) that keeps it straight and prevents sand from entering the standpipe. I do not know what it is called and have never seen one sold separately. You might contact the filter manufacturer and ask.
